(SG) The Ethereal Seas
« on: December 29, 2015, 12:49:03 pm »

A blurry mess of sensations overcomes your newly formed mind. Slowly, they become more defined, until you realize, first, your need to breathe. Immediately afterwards you feel the desperation of only finding some liquid instead of precious air, a liquid in what you seem to be suspended, floating. Was that your first action upon this world? Your head briefly emerges to the surface and you discover you have the ability to see, and you are welcomed by blinding light. You close what you realize are your eyes as you sink once more, and water? fills your lungs. The mess of sensations becomes less defined, again, until there is just a dull blackness, and your mind stops working.

[...]

You cough out some water. The sensation now is of you laying over something...grainy? You open your eyes, and are bathed again by light. It burns your eyes, but this time you get used to it, until you can see. You get up, and realize that you are over sand. Waves of water end up just near you. A Sea, one with blue crystalline water. But it gets grayish the further you see, less defined, until a grey fog swallows the edge of your sight. You turn around, and are greeted with the sight of a green forest, and it is now that you realize that you have been hearing different sounds coming from it, not like those of the waves. Far away into the forest, a big mountain towers over the land. Some smoke comes out of it. A Volcano. The smoke rises into the sky, until you see the bright element that previously blinded you. The Sun.

Everything is new, yet, you appear to already know many things. You stare into the foggy horizon. Mountain-shaped forms slowly move from one place to another. Some stopping after reaching a certain distance from another one.

You are left to your own, hunger and thirst, alien yet familiar sensations, beginning to assault you.

It will be up to you to survive in this place, the water preventing your escape.  But where will you go? The only thing around this island seems to be...

You knee over to the sea. The blue waters here are so different from the fog in the distance. You take a sip... and spit it. It tastes of salt, and your instincts quickly tell you that it is not worth drinking...

You stand up and stare into the horizon. The distant mountains are still moving. The fog appears unchanged. A slight breeze pushes some of the fog to you, until your vision is somewhat impeded.

~That which is, and which is not, gave you motion~

And just as the breeze stops and you can see clearly again, you are left alone, with the taste of salt in your dried mouth.

Having no better place to go, you get into the forest. Chirping and other animal sounds are heard occasionally. The ground is covered in leaves, but none of them are big enough. After some time traversing the woods, you come to a clearing, with a pond of water in the middle. It looks somewhat shallow, and the water seems to be as crystalline as that of the sea, but this one must be potable, you hope. You take a sip, and happily swallow it, as it is not tainted by that foul-tasting salt. Your thirst is quenched, and you find yourself in this relaxing spot. You didn't dare to disturb the waters, as they seem to be so pure that you don't want them to become muddied, but you could look for clay if you wanted to. The Sun shines in the sky, covering you with warmth.

~The bright guardian gave you life~

You ponder what to do. The volcano is nearer, but probably climbing it will be difficult. You haven't found any food yet, though. Your thoughts are interrupted by a brief sound, that of something stepping over dired leaves. It comes from inside the forest, but it disappears, and the calmness returns.

You sink your hands into the pool, and are saddened to find that not only it does not ave any kind of clay on its bottom, but that you have moved too much mud for the water to be drinked, at least comfortably. You will have to wait a while for it to become pristine again. Instead, you decide to look for fallen branches. The trees are not huge, but there are some branches lying around, many of them sturdy enough to build with. You have to walk quite a bit to gather enonugh to make a rudimentary shelter, but the task is finally complete, and now you have a stick shelter near the pond. It is not spacious, and it is quite uncomfortable to be into it, but at least it should provide partial protection from the elements. You put some leaves over it, they won't do much, but at least you can pretend it is a ceiling.

You hear a thunder, or at least you believe it to be one, until you feel the land trembling beneath your feet, and you look at the sky, where the fumes from the volcano have darkened part of the atmosphere. Some pebbles fall, probably caused by whatever explosion occurred in the volcano. You use your shelter for protection, and it stops a couple of the falling little things. After a brief time, it stops, and you crawl out of your shelter, finding one of the objects that fell. It is smooth, and metallic, you could almost swer it is iron, yet it is the first time you have seen it. You don't touch it, because you can feel that it is hot.

~The raging fire built your flesh~

Hunger is becoming a more serious issue. Who knows what the forests will provide?

Before anything else, grab a rather large, sturdy stick for whacking prey.

Good idea, but we need to test if that object is, in fact,  hot enough to ignite wood. Then we proceed as stated above.

Are there any rather sharp/pointy rocks nearby?
