OOC Thread

It has been approximately one hour since the government assembled your infiltration team. You've arrived in the forest outside "Alpha Omega"'s bunker in the Pacific Northwest. GPS photographs have shown that the bunker has thick concrete walls surrounding a small complex of three buildings. Your job is to enter the complex without being seen, rescue the hostages held captive there, find and take any bioweaponry they may possess, and get out. As this is a top-secret black op, you can't expect any official support. Most of your equipment is to be gained via on-site procurement.

Each of you have been equipped with the following:
Standard urban-patterned fatigues: 3 pounds. Tough and relatively comfortable. Provide a +2 bonus to Hide checks in urban environments.
Standard range pack: 2 pounds. Lightweight backpack, also with an urban camouflage pattern. Provides space for 12 pounds of equipment.
Electro-optical binoculars: 4 pounds. Military-grade binoculars with rangefinding and night-vision capabilities.
Professional-grade walkie-talkie: 1 pound. Walkie-talkie with a 15-mile range that can contact any of hundreds of radio channels. Allows you to contact your support team.
Knife: 1 pound. Military-grade survival knife. 1d4 damage, 19-20 critical hit range.

Your support team is operating from the nearest military base. They consist of the following officers.

Colonel Naomi Takara: Your CO. A second-generation Asian-American woman who became a legend among military officers for expertly handling several precarious situations in the Middle East. Known for being somewhat smug.
Valga Snienowski: A data specialist who hails from England. Relatively new, but said to have a promising career ahead of her. She's the one who located the base by tracing the signal of the videos sent to the White House.
Major Tadeu de Santiago: A survival expert from Brazil. He coached special-forces troops for ten years at one of the U.S. Army's most famous boot camps. Purportedly has a very over-the-top personality.
Sepi Partanen: Weapons expert of Scandinavian descent. He retired from a weapon design lab six years ago, but voluntarily came to help on this mission. Has a great interest in sports and athleticism.
You are in a redwood forest in the dead of night. The compound is apparently a short walk to the northeast, but you cannot see it yet.

Rebecca had introduced herself to the rest of the group on the flight in. She seemed excited, if very nervous to be on this mission. Now, once on the ground, her face has steeled.
"We need eyes on the compound. I'm going to climb up and see what I see."
Rebecca looks for the tallest tree nearby, and climbs to the top, trying to spy on the compound.

Mike's introduction was rather short. While he was calm and collected on the flight, he seems almost too happy now that he is on the ground.
Look around for any Alpha Omega troops in the immediate area.

Leto spent most of her time on the flight to herself, toying with the wedding band on her left hand. From the few times she spoke up she seemed like a calm but assertive woman.

'Sparks' (he didn't feel the need to give out his real name for obvious reasons) was rather social on the flight unlike his companions. He even offered to buy them a beer if they got back! With that said he previously made sure they were on the same channel so as to be able to quickly update each other about what they see.
He starts sneaking towards the base to get a view on what they're working with.
"Sparks here. Heading towards the base to get a view on Security. Make sure you all keep your lines open in case there's complications. Unless the complication is an EMP. In which case, that advise is useless."

Mike's introduction was rather short. While he was calm and collected on the flight, he seems almost too happy now that he is on the ground.
Look around for any Alpha Omega troops in the immediate area.

You seem to be all alone in the forest, but you see vague movement and  the occasional flashlight in the distance. These people don't seem to have skimped on security.

Rebecca had introduced herself to the rest of the group on the flight in. She seemed excited, if very nervous to be on this mission. Now, once on the ground, her face has steeled.

Rebecca looks for the tallest tree nearby, and climbs to the top, trying to spy on the compound.

You begin climbing a tree, but hesitate when a bright light flashes over the top for a second. Continue?

He starts sneaking towards the base to get a view on what they're working with.
"Sparks here. Heading towards the base to get a view on Security. Make sure you all keep your lines open in case there's complications. Unless the complication is an EMP. In which case, that advise is useless."

Your CO radioes back. Using your shared frequency, she contacts all of you at once.

"Understood. Remember, this is a top-secret black op. Don't be seen. From here on out, we're going to refer to each other by codenames; you guys can pick yours. I'll be 'Major Wolf'."

A British woman chimes in over the line.

"I'm 'Mother Citadel', your data specialist. Call me if you need any info on the terrorists; we don't have much just yet, but if we can help, we'll provide you with it."

Next, a rather loud man's voice with a Spanish twinge contacts you.

"And I will be 'CLOSE PATRIOT'. I'm your SURVIVAL INSTRUCTOR, so if you need ANY advice on evading the enemy, just ask me."

Finally, a man with a thick Scandinavian accent comes in.

"You can call me... ah... I am bad with the names. Just call me S.P. There are lots of the guys with S.P. for initials, right? Anyway, I am your weapons instructor. If you obtain the weapons from the enemy, but do not know what the weapons are, do not hesitate to run the description of the weapon by me. I can probably figure it out."

"Alright. We're out. Move as a group or split up; it's your choice. The compound contains three buildings, and there's a watchtower in the southwestern corner. Gates are at the north, south, and western sides, but they are heavily guarded and armored cargo trucks seem to drive through on a regular basis. How to handle the situation is up to you. Best of luck."

Not at the moment, but you'll find plenty of garroteable items in a relatively short timespan.

'Sparks nods to himself as he continues towards the compound, deciding to wait until he can actually see it to decide on a tactic.
"Alright command. Sparks over and out."
The rest of the team can hear him humming some James Bond is tune as his line goes off.
