Has anyone's fortress been smashed by giant elephants yet?

Actually, giant elephants are [BENIGN] like elephants, so not really. You'll have to do some (well needed) modding to see giant elephants being dangerous.

For some reason, that makes me a little sad.

EDIT: Also, I feel like elephants/giant elephants should be fairly territorial animals. Also, it would be interesting/terrifying if musth could somehow be coded in.

Not too difficult to make them large carnivorous predators. Sadly, giant elephants haven't survived any of my 40.04 worldgens. Grizzly bear men do pretty well though. Generally surviving, civilizing and being historical.

Anyone know how big they are? My next embark will be in a tropical biome just so that I can tame some of these! At first, I was unsure if massive grazers could actually survive long enough to make good war animals without modding. However, in a previous fort, my giant war rhino was kept healthy and fed by his owner. It never needed to graze.

To my understanding of only being unable to look at the files, but having found what is probably a replica, it seems that the giant creature variation doubles size, meaning giant elephants will be size 10,000,000, which is the same size as forgotten beasts, and both types of clowns.

Its a feature. Impregnating booze is a planned tech tree for dwarves and this is a sneak peek at it.

Tigers are 225,000 cm^3, while giant tigers are 1,900,000 cm^3. They're about 8X in volume, which matches the fact that doubling in size roughly increases volume 8-fold. Following this, giant elephants could be on the order of 40,000,000 cm^3 :). My fingers are crossed! The amount of raw power behind their blunt attacks...

Giant Elephants are still GRAZER same as normal Elephants right? I wonder how much grass a Giant Elephant has to eat?

Once grazers are tamed, the owner will feed them. Might be worth it to have a dedicated trainer for a war giant elephant who doesn't have any labors enabled.

Adding Musth should be possible with the personality trait mods.

You could add in crazed and anger propensity and stuff, set the timer, could even have females give off an effect that triggers it I think.

I'm a bit of a predicament, some of you on this thread might be able to help me. Built a fort with a tavern, listening to poetry things going rather swimmingly then a Fire breathing beetle titan has attacked, killed my initial militia and descended into the fortress. Its currently taking rather a long breather in a corridor. At one end of the one tile wide corridor is a door to my barracks which holds about 20 children all playing make believe, at the end end is a large foyer room with one dwarf child also playing. All of my two new squads grabbed their gear after receiving the kill order and then have gone to the tavern to socialize. Also there is a rather good axe dorf visiting my fort also in the tavern. They are all listening to poetry.

How do i get them to stop listing to poetry and go and save the children?

Can i recruit the visiting axe dorf into my military in some way?

I'd rather 20 children playing with toy axes did not get burnt to a crisp.

I haven't been able to get any vomit this release. Not any I can pick up, at any rate.
Swans, too. Swans are complete bastards.

Just checked the RAWS entry for giant elephants and found this:

[CHANGE_BODY_SIZE_PERC:800]

Yup. They've exactly 8X the volume of regular elephants.
