It helps hugely at this point if you have stockpiles for everything.</STRONG>

Thats what I tried doing, but apparently it didn't pan out.  I forbid everything but iron (no steel) but he just grabbed some gold anyway.  I probably didn't catch him in time.

It's a ridiculous artifact, a golden shortshord with two different pictures of a golden shortsword, one in wood, one in iron.  He made a depiction of the weapon he was making on the weapon he was making in a more weaponized material.  Then studded in with amethyst and green zircon pictures of dwarves (if this is turning into a request thread.  I should fire up gimp and try myself.)  And it was a possesion on top of that.

Dorten likes Moogie for his talent!

I usually can imagine my artifacts quite well, but the firs art in my last fort... I just can't imagine it:

Trottedwinkle the Armored Sorrows:
It is obsidian earring, encrusted with felsite worth 9600. with an image of obsidian earring in obsidian and diamonds in felsite.

Legends mode says, that it has the image of itself.
My mind exploded.

These look awesome and definately makes me want to try drawing some of my artifacts myself. Only problem is I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how they look and well... I'm not really a good artist but I'm definately giving this a try once I get some time.

Once again, Moogie you're doing great! keep up the good work!

I'd really love to see other people drawing their artifacts too.   :) Feel free to post anything you make here, I won't mind. Unfortunately I'd never have time to do -every- request here, but I will chew away at the ones that appeal to me the most.

SirPenguin: I love those! Definitely going on my list.   ;) I may start the warhammer today because I have some nice ideas for it.

Edit: I did this for MaxVance in another thread. His most useless artifact, The Faded Feed, an Ashen blowgun, with an image of a Dwarf making a plaintive gesture in Feather Tree.  ;)

Your art really is amazing Moogie, imo its exactly how them dwarves and items and such would look.
I might try drawing something myself, problem is i'm extremely lazy and slow (and unable to produce the quality you did, atleast as fast as you did, wich makes me irritated with my own incompetence)

Really love your artwork Moogie.  I have been lurking on the forums for awhile now and after seeing what you did with my friend Pyro's sword, I'd like to make a request as well.

Name: Atridisul, "Blossomedfates"
Description: This is a fox leather armor.  All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality.  This object is adorned with hanging rings of fox leather and menaces with spikes of fox bone.
Price: 4800
You could fudge it a little bit and add a dwarf striking down a fox.   ;) Most of it is from the same fox, funnily enough.

This is a superiod quality Obsidian throne. It is encrusted with finely-crafted Onyx.
On the item is a finely-designed image of a dwarf in White opal by Minkot Rithzeg. The dwarf is burning.

I'm disappointed with this drawing.  Don't get me wrong it still looks real nice.  It's just that the person did not ask for a really nice looking throne, he asked for a drawing of the artifact obsidian throne that one of his dwarves created.
Here's what you've done wrong.  You have gotten the texture of obsidian wrong.  Obsidian, in all of its varieties, has a very nice sheen to it and the changes of color are more abrupt with definite borders.  Not that gradual change shown in your drawing.  The studs on the throne are what I assume to be your rendition of onyx.  The texture of that is also wrong because onyx is a bright stone.  Not dull.  The last thing I find strange is that I can not identify the white opal on the throne.  Just a dwarf that is shaded white in some parts.

You should do the official art for the fully graphical version of Dwarf Fortress.

I love the style. The sword handles could be a bit thinner and longer tho, so people can actually grasp them.

I agree with Sergius, this style fits DF immensly imo.
I also somewhat agree with some of the critiques, but imo they aren't that important, i'm refering to the exact texture and color of materials, or a more realistic form of objects so that they look like "people" could wield them. What i'm trying to say is that for me the style is more important then how "realistic" it is (doesn't mean they have to rule eachother out though, as in its perfectly possible to retain the style but also to use more correct material textures and colors and such, like Ghostpaw mentioned). Anyways, thanks for showing us your art work Moogie.

For the record, I'm calling Shenanigans on Haunting Whispers of Forgotten Dead.  That name can only be hidden fun stuff.  Can you imagine the odds of getting words that fit together so perfectly?

My response wasn't directed at you, topic creator, just the little asshat who was nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking.
