Surely, as a Commissar, it is our duty to inspire others to purge with flashlights, not to do the purging with flashlights ourselves. I mean, obviously, if there is purging to be done, it must be done, and we must not shy away from doing it, but every part of the Imperium has its purpose, and ours is to best motivate these thousand guardsmen to purge for the Imperium.

Purging is not a brutal or ruthless act, it is a subtle art. When one purges a heretic, one purges not just that heretic, but the very concept of heresy itself. Obeying the Emperor's will is an act of the Imperium as a whole, and it spreads the Emperor's will with it. One must be mindful not simply to purge, but of how one purges, of how the purge can best represent the Emperor's will and inspire the Emperor's will upon the Imperium.

To wield a mere flashlight when inspiring service to the Emperor would be to fail to represent the Emperor's true majesty. If we were truly desperate we might be able to settle for a mere concussion rifle combined with liberal use of power fist...


And yes, I was already curious about first encountering a droid...

All the same, we should have something to fall back on should we, Emperor forbid, run out of ammunition on a particularly heretical planet...

I mean, we can always punt or saw our foes. Grabbing some kind of sniper rifle might be our best option.

The in-character argument wins, IMO, but we definitely want a weapon with easy ammunition supplies.

If we're ever in a battle long enough that we fire 490 rounds of bolt ammo (Thats like a giant packful space marine bolters have 30-round mags and the mags are the size of our arm. Do we actually have carapace armor or are we just strapped with ammo banodliers all over under the badass coat) then there are guaranteed to be dead allies around to grab a blaster from.

The concern is more attrition, I think. If we manage to waste 490 rounds, otherwise known as the 61
 8-round magazines of .75 cal centerfire we're somehow carrying, in one engagement, we've got a problem larger than ammo, but we've already expended 2% of our total ammunition supply without actually engaging in battle, and I expect that rate to go up drastically with both morale-purpose BLAMmings and real combat, so a spare, preferably a high-powered rifle of some sort, would be advatageous.

There is probably a lot of heresy in my speech. The term "flashlight" is probably heretical. And apparently a concussion rifle is sonic...

The Inquisitor gives a visible nod, responding, "An escort will be sent to take you to your temporary quarters."  The Inquisitor disappeared soon after.  Overall, you felt that was a very productive conversation.

Two Stormtroopers arrive a very short time later.  "I take it you are to show me to my quarters?" you ask.  One of the two nod, so you respond with a simple "lead the way."

"Would it be possible to stop by the ship's fabricators?" you ask.  As the God-Emperor has not yet made his debut, you do not believe that the quarters will hold a holy symbol of the God-Emperor.  You will need to acquire one as soon as you can so you do not commit extra-heresy.

"There are no fabricators on the ship," a trooper replies.  They must keep all necessary items in storage.  That is fairly very distressing.  It appears you won't be able to get a holy symbol easily.  You and your escort bypass a small box on wheels that drives past you.  For a moment, you wonder what's purposes its machine spirit fulfills, before pushing those thoughts away.  Those thoughts are for one of the Adeptus Mechanicus.  Slightly further along your trip, you feel the ship jump into the Warp.  A short while after that, you arrive at your quite bare temporary quarters that contains a bed and a desk, as well as a door leading to a small restroom.  Quite luxurious by the standards of several imperial households.  Your escort leaves as you familiarize yourself with the room.

(First encounter with a droid was a bit on the anti-climatic side, but that is due to it not really being recognized as one.  A protocol droid, astromech, etc. will have things a bit different, though.)

If we ever get into a situation where we waste so much ammo, there will be surely some kind of weapon lying around that we could claim and use it to purge stuff.

Peek outside and check if there is anyone guarding the room. If so, ask them how do they like guard duty. Need to keep those spirits up!

Check the room for heresy, then inquire where the nearest chapel is that we may pray there and thank the God-Emperor for our escape from success at scouting the heretical Hive World.
