As I see it, the main differences between blasters and lasguns is that lasguns hit effectively instantly and are perfectly accurate, while blasters seem inaccurate and have very slow-moving projectiles, all other distinctions aren't really clearly defined.

The SW universe does have a number of advantages. They also seem to have their own competency issues, and are frankly unprepared for Grimdark Eternal War. I also don't see the SW empire, who're fairly human-centric, as likely to clash with the Imperium, at least not in the face of WTFBBQ EVERYONE ELSE. The rebels would obviously hate them, but they would probably cease to be relevant quickly.

Then again, setting up a second empire is HERESY. There is only the imperium, and this one, even in it's current form, is no exception. We are a servant of the emperor, not his regent.

True, Second Empire is heretical wording. We'd just be governor of a new Segmentum I guess.

There is a short silence after you speech concludes.  You believe you saw the stormtroopers that escorted you here glanced at each other for a second, which is when the assembled soldiers erupt...in shouts of praise to the God-Emperor.  Your escort glances at each other again at the result of your speech.  Obviously, they are stunned by the light the God-Emperor can bring.  You move to quiet them, when the base shakes.  One of your escorts brings a hand up to his head, and has half a conversation.  They must have a communications unit in the helmet.  Once finished, the soldier looks to you and says, "A Rebel raiding force is attempting to attack the base, we are to bring your soldiers to reinforce the front lines."

Looks like you're getting into a fight earlier than you thought.

(Do not forget that the Star Wars side also has an intact research base in comparison to the tattered Warhammer 40k side, so they could reverse engineer the WH40k tech and improve upon it.  And if it is just the Imperium, they are a bit busy with a multi-front war even before becoming aware of star wars.)

+1 to this, also ask if they have confirmation on the size of the raid and if there are any notable rebels we should watch out for.
