Why don't we just shoot our pistol into the air to punctuate?

This thing is a goddamn BOLTER, it would outperform modern antimateriel rifles, firing it inside a spacecraft is a damnfool idea. Instead, we should rev our chainsword for emphasis.

You're in a facility on the planet, not in space.

Highly useful and relevant information.. :V

Still, bolters are scary, and firing them inside buildings without cause is likely a bad plan.

Papa Nurgle knows you feel empty, Papa Nurgle wants you to feel full.
Summary execution is both punishment AND punctuation. Without punctuation, nobody learns anything from it, and without punishment, nobody listens. The speech communicates the value of the execution and the execution communicates the value of the speech.

Executing a traitor for faltering in the face of battle with an offhanded "retreat is bad" isn't going to inspire anyone. If they turn traitorous and don't get executed than even the grandest of speeches will fail to instil proper decorum in the face of xenoheresies. We don't execute anyone unless they are legitimately traitorous, or heretical, or xeno, but if they fail to pay proper respect to the Emperor's teachings then the inevitable outcome is best used as punctuation...

Personally, I feel we should hold off on executions until they're actually necessary.

Pretty much what Ampersand said. Besides, we aren't responsible for teaching these guys, just making sure they remember it.

I'll try writing a rousing Imperial speech worthy of the Emperor.

"Children of the Emperor! Heed me!"

"I come to you on this day, as your commisar. But I plead with you, not to see me as more than what I am, nor less. For I do not see any of you as more than what you are, nor less. We are all equal in His eyes! We are all His instruments! And thus, I will not accept anything less than excellence, for that is all that you should be capable of!"

"The God-Emperor is our beacon. May He shine His light that we may see with clarity our foes! That we may see their black hearts and drive our swords through them, to pierce them with our shots, to vilify them, to hate them with all our human might! That is our manifest destiny!"

Then cue to a grim tone.

"But I know from experience that corruption has deep roots. No corruption has flowered yet, but I know it will flower, and the flames of war will only speed its growth. Let it be known I will feel nothing if I must enforce discipline to the cowardly, and render judgement to the guilty.

Let it be known that this is my duty. And through words, sword or bolter, I will enact my duty."

Go back to rousing tone.

"I plead with you now, I implore, cut the roots of corruption with prayer and good deeds, else I will cut it with chainsword and bolt."

There gonna be so confused... meybe we should say lasgun and power sword? I mean, they don't have bolters or chainswords...

I was referring to our bolt pistol and chainsword.

We clearly need to brandish said implements in order to make ourselves clear.
