Heralds of the Bound [3.5 D&D] - That Frigging Wineskin.
« on: December 23, 2015, 05:03:22 pm »

Would anyone be interested in playing a weekly Skype game of 3.5 Ed D&D?  Note:  I am on GMT hours, so Brits/Europeans probably best for evening slots.

Player Characters

Littleman - A warlock.  (Harry Baldman)
Arun - A nomadic horse warrior.  (Rince Wind)
??? - A sorcerous fen-dweller.  (David - not on Bay12)

An archivist?
A man of faith?

I'd be interested, more experience with pathfinder but they are pretty similar so it'd not take much to adjust.

I'd be interested. Mostly experience with ADnD, but I think I have some 3.5 rulebooks as well.

Hm, I might join, possibly. GMT+12 might make things tricky but I don't really need to keep to any schedule right now so vov

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Excellent.  As a general rule I am free after 7pm GMT most days, so what days would be good for people to play on?  (Nothing until the new year, obviously.)

Additionally, each character must have something they are reaching for and something they are running from.  For simplicity, characters start at level 1.  Mythweavers does easy sheets to fill out online, will also accept text files etc.  All base classes are permitted (barbarian, bard, cleric, druid, fighter, monk, paladin, ranger, rogue, sorcerer, wizard), talk me through others.  Any permitted baseline race (no drow, trolls etc).

Edit:  Although, as an alternative, how would one feel about a more primal setting?  Less civilisation, more beasts and wilderness?

I should be able to do any day except Sunday, which would be Saturday night GMT.

I could give this a shot, and I can do any evening except Saturdays and Wednesdays, and I am decidedly European as well. Have wanted to play some actual 3.5 for a while now, really.

More beasts and wilderness is cool with me.

First off, are you opposed to the idea of a warlock? I don't really know how to abuse Use Magic Device, so you wouldn't need to worry about that.

EDIT: Secondly, is this purely Skype-based? That is, not using, say, Roll20 or anything that fulfills a similar function?

Warlocks are cool, I've played with them before.  Pure skype base is ideal, I'm happy to fudge physical distances where maps are required and work off description.  Also works for another friend who wants to play.

So the setting I have in mind is likely Bronze Age; stone weapons common but poor, copper weapons standard, bronze better.  Probably pseudo-European, with city-states in the temperate zones and more tribalism in the colder regions.

Very good. And what about a scout? I kind of like that skirmish ability, and they make sense for the wilderness.

Bronze Age is fine.

What about the level of magic. Lower than standard Forgotten Realms or similar?

I might play some tribal priest of a fire god, but not sure yet. And I won't be able to look at the rulebooks for another week or so.

If there's going to be some kind of ancient ruins scattered about, I'd like to play as an archivist - basically a divine wizard, fluff-wise they're kinda like Indiana Jones, what with exploring/collecting stuff. Sounds pretty fun from an RP perspective.

Otherwise, I'll probably go for a cleric or druid. I don't really mind, just depends on whether an archivist is appropriate for the setting.

Can you link me a class description?  Sounds like a ranger/rogue cross from your description, would like to know a little more.

I'd say that at this point in history (no saying in the past or future), nobody has spells above 5th or 6th level.  So raise dead rather than resurrection, and that only the high priests.

Tribal priests are cool, and you can find the base stats on d20srg.org for free.

You know what, there absolutely should be ancient ruins scattered about.  If you can link me to a class description, I'd like to take a look, but it should be alright.  There's an old monastic order from a setting I used to play which I can expy in; the Order of the Quill.  Essentially a cult of librarian/journalist monks dedicated to recording and preserving history.

Edit:  So right now my provisional time is Monday or Tuesday, 7:30pm-10:30pm GMT, for sessions.  How does this sound?

Both times are fine with me.

I like a lower magic level, I prefer not everyone having a magic weapon by level 3 or whatever. So no high level spells are cool as well.
