(Confirmed male, if it wasn't before it is now)

Getting into your car, you think of your name. It slips from your memory, what will you call yourself if you run into people? Another moment goes by, Chevy, you'll call yourself Chevy.... for now...

Driving down the roads you find it strange to steer the vehicle on the slightly unsettled ground. Looking up you see a bright red streak go across the sky, it flies overhead towards the facility that you ran from. You are now only a few miles from the city driving on a road in the middle of a grass plain. No cover, you'll be completely exposed to any shock wave from the impact. Time seems to have slowed down, only a moment goes by and bright flash shines in the rear-view mirror.

Your eyes burn so you look away, in fear you slam on the gas trying to speed closer to the city hopping that whatever distance you can get will protect you from the blast. The flash is gone and behind you you see the trees bend and break under the weight of an expanding sphere of air rushing toward you.

The speedometer reads 153 kmh, you suddenly feel light.

Everything becomes dark, there are loud noises but you have become numb from the world, and then nothing.

Your eyes open, the sun is setting in the distance, your head lays in a cool pool of blood on the pavement. The car is down the road, overturned and surrounded by small shards of glass.

Standing up you look at your arms, they have small cuts that seem to almost be closing as the skin on each side of the cut looks as though it is slowly moving towards the other. The metal device on your arm is slightly scrapped up but it seems to be fine.

Taking a final look around before you do anything else, you notice a light layer of ash peppered on the road.

What do you do next?

I kept forget to post here.

Make sure we don't have any other injuries.
Examine the ash.
Go to our car and check it out.

Quickly look at the fireball, for science.

((in reviewing my last post I apologize for not using only metric units, meant to use kilometers instead of miles. Will try to do that in the future))
Quickly look at the fireball, for science.

(Fire ball moved too fast to observe more than just seeing a ball of fire fly by and slam into the general area of where you were earlier, presumably the facility you left.)

Checking your body you can't see any visible broken bones but you're sure there are multiple hairline fractures and heavy bruising on your shoulders.
The ground is still shaking, if just ever so lightly.
You also notice that the same ash layered on the ground is also peppered on your clothes and skin. Looking closer at it the ash seems to be composed of many different particles, some are fibers others small grey pieces and others are crumbling pieces of actual ash from some sort of burning material.

You deduce that the layer of ash is from a cloud of settled debris, almost all of the particles are small because you are so distant from the first event you saw and the second was possibly too recent for particles to have settled yet.

You hobble back to the car, your legs seems to be weak and in pain. Peering inside with the last bit of sunlight helping you, you see your bag laying on the inside. The rest of the vehicle seems to be severely damaged, one of the wheels seems to have been torn from the vehicle (you see it laying a ways from the road), the hood and front of the vehicle are smashed beyond repair. Your other equipment you had stored in the car seem to either be in the car or scattered close around the car.

What do you do now?

Collect stuff and do a quick search  of the cars trunk before we begIn to do a quick search of the near by area.

Gathering your things from the ground and backseat of the car you notice that most of it has survived the crash. Most surprisingly of these things is that the vials in the bag seem almost untouched.

Next you move to the back of the car and attempt to open the trunk. The latch seems to have been jammed, in an attempt to force the trunk open you accidentally pull it up breaking the latches holding it shut and ripping the trunk open. Though all that effort is in vain as the trunk is empty spare many papers that tossed about the inside of the trunk.

As you search around the car for anything else you deduce that the car is not and never will be salvageable as anything more than a generator at best. Whatever brought the ash down seems to have stopped (it's not raining ashes currently). And lastly as you look back towards the city, you find it missing.

The city that you were headed towards is almost completely gone, only a few of the smaller buildings are still standing but most of them are gone. You also notice that the ground is still unsettlingly shaking but only slightly.

What do you do next?

The plain area around you seems mostly empty. Back on the hill it appears that many of the trees have fallen, maybe a better spectating point but it's several miles away. The once city near you still has a few buildings standing only a couple miles away which you could more easily get to.

You consider looking for survivors or maybe just searching the city to see what is causing all the damage.

Remembering the equipment you are carrying you also consider grinding off the embossed symbols on the rifle using the road and bits of glass or metal from the car to rip out the down on emblems and such on the body armor/helmet.

What do you do?
