I think snoke said he was the last of the Ren.

Leader of the Knights of Ren.

Kylo Ren was injured. Remember Chewbacca shot him with his crossbow-blaster thing.

And? Finn worked in sanitation. Rey was a scavenger. Not much fighting in toilets and junk piles, I imagine :P

I can't remember if he used the Force at all during those fights either...

Novel says that Kylo was toying with Finn until he got scored. You may notice that the instant he gets hit in that fight, he frigging fuses Finn's whole spine into a single line of charcoal. I think it's probably because Kylo thinks he's hotter shit than he is.

I really liked that lightsaber fight. All the other ones in the franchise were people hitting sticks together until on of them got a piece of their body cut off. In this one, they were like cutting each other to pieces. It was awesome

they killed off HAN SOLO!
WHYYY???

It was for a number of good reasons. What makes fans "happy" in the short term isn't always what's best for the story.

Harrison Ford actually maintained that Han Solo should have been killed off in Return of the Jedi while sacrificing himself to save Han and Leia, but the idea was vetoed by Lucas because he was a fan-favorite. Interestingly, the same thought process was behind Lucas himself killing off Obi-wan. Lucas had realized Obi-wan was basically baggage in the last part of the first Star Wars movie, so his death was inserted as an impetus to the young Luke. But Lucas had grown too attached to the characters by the third movie and refused to kill anyone else off.

When Abrams did Force Awakens, he had the exact same thought process as George Lucas in the first movie, and Harrison Ford in the third movie. In a late draft, they realized Han Solo was in the movie, but he was baggage basically. If nothing monumental happened to Han, then he'd just be window dressing you add because it's appealing to the fans, rather than playing a major role. Should Han be just a background character that's repeatedly trotted out to make fans happy, or should he have a major impact in the film? It's only right that Han's death (and everyone dies) must be larger-than-life, and on screen rather than dying peacefully of old age in some unseen footnote of wookiepedia.

Half of the characters in this movie are window dressing, so...

Luke likes staring.

I was actually not too pleased with Leia's portrayal, needing to be comforted by Han, and the complete lack of interest in Chewie after Han died... Why?

Phasma. Leia. Ackbar (he was never a main character, but holy shit, does he even get mentioned by his name? That could be completly different Mon Calmari tho.). R2D2 was only there to be a deus-ex-R2D2. C3P0 (he apparently was a spymaster for the Resistance, wut) also got missed out a lot, which might actually be for better.

Phasma is a completely new character though, isn't that right? Sure, she has a classically "Star Wars" sounding name, but she was invented for this movie.

R2 was idle because he'll likely get more of a role in the next movie, but he needed to at least be shown to maintain continuity. Abrams seems very conscious of not overusing any of the original characters.

Traitor dude needs to make a triumphant return in the next movie. I'm declaring him to be this trilogy's Boba Fett.

Considering how much Phasma was shown in trailers and generally how much people were talking and hyped about her, you would suspect that she should have at least some screentime or at least one minor asskicking. And instead she is mostly standing and slowly walking around doing basically NOTHING. Even Hux is better because he gets a nice Hitler hate speech.

Ah, looks like the Internet agrees. Guy's name is TR-8R and he has several action figures available.

I don't mind the memes and shit, but he beat Finn 'cause Finn doesn't know how to use a lightsaber. I'm not even sure how likely it is he knows how to really fight, given he said he works in sanitation and the mission on Jakku was his first.
