On that, I might be misremembering, but wasn't there a piece of dialogue saying that destroying the oscillator would cripple the weapon? If so, why does the whole planet explode upon its destruction? Yes, that's certainly quite crippling, but when I heard the plan, I thought "okay, render it inoperable for a six-month training montage, and then it'll be back."

They said it would cripple the thing that holds the power of a whole star in.

At the very least, I certainly remember being very sure the whole place would explode spectacularly when they destroyed the thing for the reason that it wouldn't be able to keep a star in.

Oh, and related: the novel suggests that it uses the Force (dark side) somehow to blow things up. Another object which used a star and the Force: the Star Forge. And Rakata Prime is in the Visual Dictionary's star map. Huh.

Didnt like it that much. It's not terrible, but not good also.

The things I didint like is the very dumb plot, and its even worse as its reused dumb and lazy plot. Acting/characters are a mixed bag. The good guys are ok, except the eccentric fin that really doesnt act like a military person that was feed by propaganda all this years and tries to much to be comic relief for the movie.

The bigger problem are pretty much all the bad guys. The main bad guy, kylo ren is miscast for the role, and that young general that acts so much stiff also. They both look extremely inappropriate for the role they play.

The whole movie is to fast, with characters bonding with each other also to fast. A fucking hole rebellion is destroyed with that death star 3. So much lazy story telling.

Music is the worst from all star wars trilogies.

Overall it feel like this movie was not needed really. But how it looks they will be milking the shit out of this, as every year now a new star wars movie will be coming out. Its a bland copy of original movie. At least the prequels tried something new, this one plays to much safe

So "it's a bland copy, except for the villains, who are dumb because I expected them to be a bland copy but they aren't", got it.

You did not got it, nor did you read the post.  Less fanboying and more reading and understanding what you read if you want to comment someones post

There wasn't very much to respond to in that post. It's a list of unsupported opinions that leaves little room to respond except with a shrug. Other than maybe trying two poke for the reasoning behind why you feel the villians are miscast, or going down the road of Fin's character arc/lack thereof.

Yea, so he thought up some random reason and responded to that. If he cant respond to anything, than he should just ignore it and move on.

The movie has a lot of problems and most of them are known for anyone who saw the movie, some are my personal opinion, where I give more explanation, like for fin character.

It was a good movie, dispite some nitpicks like WHY ANOTHER DEATH STAR PLOT.

To be honest George Lucas only made 2 good Star Wars films to begin with, namely episode 4 and 5.

I rank this above the other films.

So my ranking would now be something like:

5-4-7-3-6-1-2

I was going to say something about you ranking Clones lower than the Phantom Menace, but then I realised that I didn't actually know where I'd rank the Phantom Menace anyway, because I fell asleep halfway through.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Attack of the Clones is often considered worse than Phantom Menace, I'd guess because half of it has two plots running simultaneously, one of which is boring as shit and the other of which is one of the worst love stories in the history of cinema.

I dunno, I didn't think it was that bad at the time. The romance was cringeworthy, but I think the other stuff was at least nominally entertaining.

So amongst numerous issues and whatnot one thing kinda stuck with me.

Ren senses Solo coming to the Deathplanet the moment he drops out of FTL, but he can't sense him in the same room five meters away? The fuck is up with that?

I think similar situations are also seen before? Obi Wan has a vague bad feeling about everything in Episode I, and you know that that's about Palpatine, but he never figures out that Palpatine is a bad dude.

It's somewhat similar in Jedi IIRC, Luke knows Vader's on the Executor but IIRC he doesn't sense him before he shows up later.

But there's a difference between a Sith master hiding himself where nobody would look and Han Solo being right behind him not really trying to hide himself.

And the whole scene felt forced to make it appear like that one from the old movie. I can get paying homage and playing it safe, but for fucks sake, it wouldn't have killed them if they changed up some parts of the movie to keep it fresh. As is, pretty much every scene was predictable to the point of it getting boring rather quickly.

It takes a real fucking stretch to say they didn't change up parts from earlier movies. You basically have to ignore anything involving the characters at all, which misses the point so utterly I can't imagine why anyone thinks it's a proper way to watch.

I just got back from seeing it, and I enjoyed it. That said, it did feel like Abrams and Kasdan basically said "how many Star Wars tropes can we give a shout-out to, and how many can we invert/subvert?"

My only real complaint as far as characters is Emo Ren. He starts off as a great badass (Force-catching a laser bolt? holy shit) and then it just goes downhill from there.

Tantrum where you wreck half the control consoles in the ship? Not badass. Vader was so terrifying because he was almost *always* calm. When somebody fucked up, the audience knew somebody was about to get Force-choked and somebody else was about to get a terrifying field promotion, but it was always done in the most restrained, calm "you have disappointed me for the last time" fashion.

Taking the helmet off and rocking the curls? Not badass. EVIL DOES NOT HAVE CURLS.

The other thing is that when he does not have his cape on....he just looks awkward. Vader (as played by David Prowse) was physically imposing -- broad-chested and powerful. Driver is just too damn skinny to be imposing.
