Right, I reiterate my previous point -- a shadow's more a relative area of darkness next to light where it's been blocked, less a complete absence of light in area.
If you go into a windowless basement with NO light whatsoever it's not so much shadow as being completely devoid of light, right?

Plus, really, the solution to one character being able to kill is not for everyone and their mother also to have kill abilities


(this, by the way, is one of the advantages of a stat system; it's a lot harder to have these sorts of "NO U" exchanges on all sides (including mine) when things are quantified and balanced)

Eh, like I said, I don't care either way. I just balance my characters to both not have kill abilities and to have a fair counter to people who inevitably pack them for no reason.

Also, in a stat system, Hana would have 0 in all stats except INT, DEX and WIS. Because woo, intangible genre savvy vidya game spirit wot doesn't fight.

But the absence of light IS shadow.


It's not like he didn't already have it, but I thought of a worrisome usage of an existing ability that wouldn't normally be a thing one would think of as killy.

Well, through reasonable material limits.  Like D&D's or something.

Yeah, like, in DnD you can't just suddenly set a fireball spell right inside a dude's chest cavity or something.

Well, yeah, because that's not how whoever it is made the spell, or thinks of the spell, or warps reality to be.


You could, however, generate a Bonfire right on top of them.

Well, yeah, there's the comparison; Ray can probably apply external force by shadow or such, but it's a little more difficult to do so in an area he has no way of knowing the contents of.

Except he does have some connection to shadows.  And at least a passing knowledge of where to look in a human body for them.

Then why shouldn't anyone with any sort of power that manifests something be able to make it inside of someone? All most of these powers need is space.

Because either a) they haven't thought of it, b) the spell doesn't work that way, or c) their innate power doesn't like doing that.

But isn't the whole point of this game to make every as OP as possible and watch as the game tears itself apart as soon as two people get into a fight and have to resolve the clusterfuck of ability descriptions?
