So when's the first Tick?

Also, I'd like to know about more about the Magic Strength trait. The problem I have with it is that it seems to improve a magic system's power but balances it out with increased danger and rarity. It seems like a sidegrade that you have to pay for rather than a proper upgrade. I thought about it a bit to try and justify it and I think I succeeded, but I want to know if I'm correct.

My idea is that Magic Strength+1 can provide either:
1. a flat boost in power or,
2. a large flat boost in power but with increased power requirement and/or danger

Is this correct?

I'd also like to complain about the rule concerning granting a mortal immortality. It seems arbitrary and pointless. It's there for no reason and does nothing but make a rare occurrence needlessly expensive (relative to other things that cost 1E). As with other upgrades, it's probably best to just multiply the cost of the creature and make the player pay the difference, as it was done in YG2.

Sidegrades in games are usually paid for. You pay for being different, which can be an advantage of it's own.

As for immortality; I believe it's so that Stirk doesn't have to calculate each individual mortal's cost before and after whenever someone has to do it, and then use an RNG to see whether it happens or not, and etc. It's bookkeeping reasons. Also so people don't just cast it about willy nilly.

Note: Mostly ignoring Andre's complaints now. I would encourage others to do the same, unless you feel he has an actual point somewhere down the line.

The first tick is about a week from tick 0, as I stated multiple times.

You are not correct. Increased magic strength leads to an increase in danger and a decrease and availability. This is based off of the magic system in Ye Gods 2, and acts as a check and balance against overpowered and widely available magic systems.

1E is the least I can require for an action. Fractions are calculated as KJP did (As in, a .5 has a 50% chance of costing one more, .2 has a 20% chance of costing more, etc based on d100). This is based on Classic! Ye God's system, which this is still heavily based on. Granting immortality counts as a "Minor" action, which costs 1E. You complained about it there too, if I remember correctly, and it was never, ever a problem for anyone under any circumstance. If you think it is overprice, don't use it.

I checked through the Symphony threads first and found nothing so I thought to ask. I forgot that you mentioned it in Litany.

Fair enough, though I'm not sure how you'd tell if it was a problem or not.

Eh, an immortality price system will never truly work well.

Because the value in immortality can vary greatly from person to person.
Endless life begets endless experience. They can become a master of all.
Endless life begets endless misery. They can go insane.
And then there's the fact that immortality doesn't stop death in some cases. So someone can just chop their heads of, and claim the prize.

So how do you price that? High price, low price, somewhere in the middle?

Simple, Happy Demon;

We're not Utilitarian Gods/Gods who care about the suffering or happiness of individual mortals. Or, at the very least, the universe frame we operate in does not, in much the same way that using a plane to drop bombs or food costs more or less the same amount (minus cost of bombs/food), regardless of how much it helps or hurts, so long as the payload is the same.

Already onto my least favorite and most space-filling part of the game.

Pointless bickering over morals that don't really apply to gods, especially in historical mythology.

I mean, yeah, rape=bad, but I didn't really see that in the action anyway and the 'one line of dialogue at a time' thing, when it's not actually going to change what they want to do with their followers without being actually threatened or bribed, just takes up space.

They're gods, they can subscribe to whatever morals they like.

So, now I'm wondering if the Saplings are sorta like modern Jews. Or the stereotypes of Jews. Or something.

Great Trees probably make fantastic vaults, after all, and offshore bank accounts takes a whole new meaning when the Great Reefs exist...plus, with how few the Saplings are, and their more intimate connection and yet more independent connection to Teburshe via the Great Trees (which are probably the closest things to non-unique Demigods there currently are)...I mean, I'm not certain, after all, they may just help grow food for a lot of the rest of the world or they may have all been burned for firewood, but...*shrug*

Stirk will tell, in time.

...Wouldn't that make them closer to "Swiss Bankers"? I'm pretty sure "Jews control all the banks" isn't a modern stereotype, and few people send all their stuff to be stored in Isreal.

Eh. It was a disparate collection of examples for perhaps an inappropriate use of the word 'modern'.

In the Harry Potter movies, banks were owned by goblins who totally were Jewish stereotypes. At least in fantasy, it's not unheard of.
