So here is the way things are right now. Stirk had a cold for his exam week that kinda kicked him grade wise, and is currently trying to be a more diligent student in general. He should still have enough free time in the near future to DM things again, assuming he isn't too exhausted for such things. It is pretty clear 238.83CalorieHadron has signed up for the secret space program and is being launched toward Mars as we speak, he might not be back for some time.

It is more along the lines that people disappearing from forums is fairly common, including among GMs of all quality. The majority are simply unnoticed and forgotten. "Good GMs" are both noticed and remembered for a long time, leading to the illusion they leave more often than others.

Though on the topic of GMing, it's interesting to me that my GMing got worse with each game I ran. I think I just started overthinking it more and more. :/
