How big and where are you though?

Also, this fucking weather is killing me, I got a cold or some shit days ago, every time I start feeling better it drops down and gets chilly and dry, that fucks with me, then it gets warm and moist the next day.

Illinois? Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that, but, at least you aren't in Indiana.

Last year was weird for me, my brain kicks into action when I first pick up the whiiiirrrrrrrrrrrr before it starts to get loud, but having a year with only 8 (and EF0/1 at that) even in the watch area and not hearing the sirens outside of tests is not something I've experienced.

Yeesh, you said you're immigrating right? Have you been anywhere else yet? I mean, I admire anyone who could look at Illinois and Florida and think "fuck yes, this is the place" but hopefully that wasn't the case.

Wait, fuck I gotta head up and set foot in Kentucky this year don't I?

Ugh, nothing against the state itself, it's actually beautiful in parts, like much of Appalachia is, but dammit.

I meant going through immigration/citizenship processing, my mistake.

Phoenix is pretty, Arizona has some starkly beautiful areas, just has the whole "OH GOD WHY IS THE AIR ANGRY AND HUGGING ME IS THAT TREE ON FIRE WHY" effect going on.

It is certainly floppy cat weather today.

Right now we're havin' a cyclone!
Or, well, the very outer reaches of one. Which basically just means a super-windy rainstorm.
It's pretty intense, though! Plus, it should last longer than most of these storms, which start off strong then fade away quickly, lacking any real staying power. It started raining steadily-but-heavily last night, and just a little while ago (it's 6:34 AM) it got really heavy. I noticed the inside cat's worried behaviour, and then it occurred to me that my/my mother's other cat was probably still outside and I became somewhat concerned for his wellfare.

I was just looking out the back window, considering opening it up to call the cat, when I was distracted by multiple noises and occurrences and then suddenly in runs the dog off the front verandah. The door hasn't been closing properly since last night for some reason, so when this storm scared the crap out of her she just barged straight in to seek comfort. Very cute.

So I carried her around for a while, and paid a visit to the other outside cat, who she lives with on the front verandah. He was quite calm, not seeming very worried by the whole thing. When I eventually did go downstairs to look for outside cat #1 (his name is Cassius, for simplicity's sake) it occurred to me that he probably wasn't in any trouble, given that he had plenty of dry, presumably comfortable hiding places under the house. I wandered around, half-heartedly calling but not really expecting to find him, when there he was, standing at the bottom of the stairs staring at me, looking as frightened as I can remember ever seeing him (which isn't saying much, as he's normally pretty much fearless). The first time I tried to escort him upstairs he bolted (back) under the car when the door made a loud noise. I managed to coax him out from there and pick him up.

Once I finally had him upstairs he just shrugged it off, beelined for his favourite chair and resumed business as usual as far as I could tell.
The storm has calmed down a bit now, but hopefully it sticks around. I'll probably sleep and then see what's up.
Oh, and I went out to check the mail as an excuse to be out in it. That was fun. :D

A cyclone, for us confused yanks is basically an upside down hurricane going the other way, or as they would say in britbonglandia, a "swirly-whirly-dippity-dooplegog" if I'm not mistaken.

We're supposed to get Tornado weather here in Missouriland tonight. Heavy rainstorm, basically. I'm not concerned, but my wife gets freaked out by them.

I grew up in Texas and the in-laws act like I'm pulling a Radar O'Reilly when I pop up and tell them the sirens started before they even begin to hear them. Your ears learn to pick out that first rrrrrnnnnnn tone quick!

Though for years they wondered why I'd get super attentive about certain storm systems, and even thought I was being a little silly at first when I had them get shit set up and ready to hop into the tub a few years back because the radar was freaking me the fuck out. Then later we find out I was flipping my shit over the edge of the 2011 Super Outbreak just barely clipping us near Germantown. They don't question when I say to watch a storm system now, for some reason.

Coming off an ENSO spike I'm prepared for a bunch of weird bullshit weather this summer but hoping it'll be nice and bland like it has been for a couple years, unlike 2008 and 2011 which can go fuck themselves.

It's pretty breezy right now. 20 mph (32 kph) winds with 35 mph (56 kph) gusts according to weather.gov. The sun and 80 degree weather is reminding to put on sunscreen in the near future, not today but maybe when it's closer to summertime. I don't remember ever getting sunburned during a run, or in general, but idea of getting too much solar radiation kind of scares me.

I miss the days when Spring existed, and it didn't just go straight from Winter to Summer.

I think I have a sunburn.

We got spring in late january (8 days over 20 C) and february (14 days over 20 C!) this year after a burst of it in december (3 days over 20 C), then we got a big chunk of that winter dropped in the first half of march (20 days at or below 10 C, half of those went under 5 C): https://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KMEM/2017/3/11/CustomHistory.html?dayend=16&monthend=3&yearend=2017&req_city=&req_state=&req_statename=&reqdb.zip=&reqdb.magic=&reqdb.wmo= and we've dipped down to or below 10 C 4 times this month.

It was a really weird combination of a decaying ENSO, the lifting of the upper atmosphere wave pattern responsible for the Cali drought, and the arctic having no fucking clue what it wanted to do for longer than a couple of days, with the usual rotation of the gyre reversing for a while. I was kinda expecting a harsh winter until the north pole went all derpy and backwards and everything got strange.

We keep alternating between mid spring weather with 25+ degrees during the day and rainy/windy winter with under 10 degrees on a weekly basis. It's been going on for about a month now, it's rather infuriating not knowing if you'll need a t-shirt or a goddamn jacket on any particular day.
