Please see bottom of the post for something important.((super-busy day, rishing the debrief))
Report mission factually, full honesty, saying what I knew forsthand and stuff I was told I list as was told, not as what I discovered or knew
Eval of party members:
Fiddler - very good and indipendant, but lacking teamwork and communication. took commstone because he wasnt using it effectively and could be trusted to take care of himself. Specifically, the one time he had issues during the mission, he didn't communicate his situation effectively, so I didn't know to send him assistance. This resulted in the Frost Giant situation being left unhandled. If he had contacted me, I'd have gone there personally to handle the intruders, leaving him to handle the crowd and the Frost Giants, and at the time I was doing low-priority tasks, and was capable of reaching him quickly.
Reggie - MIA
Noir - poor, needs babysitting, hence gave commstone to allow remote monitoring, doesnt understand herself and her own abilities, lacks diplomacy, tries hard, my inability to shift into her means her herritage is important and she really might be telling the truth about it, she has potential to be a huge asset in time, and even if she leaves Omega should be monitored because of her herritage, especially since she made accidental zombie.
Ebony - poor, inattentive and semi-brain dead. needs to be more alert to be effective. When alert was good and effective.
Dar - excellent, team-oriented, skilled at what he does, is somewhat limited by his size.
Eye - good, did what was needed, took initiative once he was pressed into a minor leadership role, reccomend doing so again to grow and maintain its indipendence. Needs to raise the priority of self-preservation so though it does the same tasks it takes steps to preserve itself while it goes about those tasks.
OZ - I cannot go on next mission, I will be without internet for the vast majority of August.
I go to a large open area, preferably somewhere with privacy, and shift to Giant Frost Cat. I have a couple goals here. for one, I need to see that form's full potential, and make it a standard one for me to shift into. for two, I apparently had... scales? back then? Like, I was becoming part frost Dragon, not frost Giant? I need to find out what that was about, and discover if I somehow acquired a frost Dragon back then.
also, I need to check my portrait again.
also again also, I would mention to my superiors that I have a horse form, but that I don't have the training to hide myself as someone's mount, only having a horses instincts to work with. I believe I could serve well as a disguised escort, given training for what a rider's signals mean to the mount. If they have someone in mind, then it would be best if that same person was there to help train me, to improve coordination.
You give your report. There is a surprising amount of sympathy shared around the officers' table with your plight in handling such a disparate set of 'talents.' By which they mean the other Omegas, not your shapeshifting and whatnot. Stories are told, interrupting your report at times. There is even laughter. I am interested in how these interruptions, stories, and commiserations affect your reporting and your reactions to the briefing.
Noted about next mission. unfortunate. We'll keep a light on for you. What will you be doing, if I may ask? (I think you once told what your job is, but I forget, because I am a fantastic friend))
You don't have clear memories about your shape at the time, and cannot replicate it. It was a pretty rough experience. as for Giant Frost Cat - consistently you can get something somewhat larger than a natural tiger, with some natural affinity for ice. Occasionally, you can get something about five feet at the shoulder, which can breath out a cold mist that freezes on contact with an object. As for horse form, the officers willingly asssign someone to ride and train you on being a mount. The saddle is uncomfortable, as is the weight. Training to recognize signals is easy enough, with an intelligent mount, so you can do that just fine. training as a war mount will take more time, and your effectiveness in that will grow with missions.
I was hoping you'd ask about the portrait. I thin you are the only one who remembers their Christmas gift. I'll try to give better gifts all round this year, providing Omega is still about.
Anyway, your portrait shows you reaching out your hand in greeting, a badge on your shirt with the Omega symbol on it. Your other arm is held up at an angle, and a sort of vague shape like a shield protects those you stand over. But as you look, you see different things in this image as well. The hand that is held out appears to be attempting to catch various beings as they fall in a stream, which slides through your fingers like sand. and the hand that is up, looks like it is attempting to juggle the same beings, tossing them in the air and trying to catch them at the same time. And subtly, in the backround, you see the hint of a large figure, hands outspread, wrapping the whole scene within it's embrace.
Feel free to look for specific things in the portrait. Sometimes the observer affects the observation.
((oh, and as for not having toured Omega base - well, there are a lot of mysteries there anyway. I forget how much any given person knows, but now you've seen Omega from above.))
"Query: The cell is mcuked up, but this one was not provided swamp water. Where can one find this, or its nearest equivalent."
Go and ask the guy who gave us the task about swamp water. Make sure to keep it low-key, that nobody else overhears. Also, if we haven't been issued the leeches, ask about those too.
You don't have to be discrete about swamp water. You have to be discrete about black market purchases. the guy that gave you the task has no idea where you are going to get swamp water though. Have to find it another way. As for the leeches, the guy points you to a particular tunnel in the outside rim of the main canyon, at canyon floor level. The tunnel descends from there. he advises you to wait until the swamp water is in before going to acquire the leeches though.
Quartermaster: "something useful" is a little vague. Can I have a garrote if that counts as an unarmed weapon? If not, how about a magical handkerchief of +1 prestidigitation? Or, failing that, a half-pound pouch of crushed glass (with free refills, possibly).
Poisoners: powerful potion, yes please! Preferably one of speed. If that's not practicable, etherealness. And if that doesn't work, surprise me (but tell me what it does, preferably).
Yobs: stick around for the swearing-in, it'll no doubt be a lovely event. move along and see what the other yobs are up to after the rest of my business is done.
"It's probably best not to waste the Officer of the Day's time," Fiddler quietly offers to Noir from the sidelines. "Show it what you can do and the decision will be made quickly and effectively. Or, y'know, just see if you can somehow talk it out with a living totem pole. That has a non-zero chance of working as well."
You want to use unarmed skill for a garrote? That makes sense, as it is effectively a grapple attack. Garrote acquired. Potion of speed acquired. Three vials.
The Eye requests some sort of self-repair function, and/or additional motive force/resistance. Some sort of internal anchor in case of such a storm ever again, like some sort of toggleable stillpoint. Not a Truly Immovable Rod equivalent, however.
You get an emergency grapple hook. One use per mission. You can fire it into the ground, or wrap it around a tree or the like. as for the self repair function - a permanent thing like that would be a skill. You can purchase an item that will do that for you to a point, for the 1020 copper in your possession. also, you have two lumps of charcoal (Christmas present) that, if consumes, will effect a certain amount of healing.
Dar'yajira will request that his collar be enchanted with something like a chameleon or blur spell. Something which makes it easier to sneak without being noticed, and maybe harder to hit with an attack. Preferably, the spell would be minor, but reusable.
Alternatively, he'd like his collar to be improved so that it helps with his self-buffing, either allowing him to cast more often (something like a mana battery?), or allowing him to hold an enchantment more easily.
Note that Dar'yajira did not get any payment from his last mission, as he ended up not actually requesting anything.
Hmm. Okay, one of the mage types takes your collar for a time, and enchants it with a blur spell. The collar now has three small gems inset near the clasp. "These gems" she explains, pointing them out to you, "are the source of the spell. See how they are deep blue now? They will go clear when used - one per use. You'll need to return to me to have them recharged. use them well, Dar'yajira. Oh! that reminds me. The town you asked about. Here is a map. This shows five locations that carry that name. there is a strong likelihood that one of those is the location your master's enemies mentioned." the map, conveniently, is projected from a small, teardrop pendant, which she attaches to your collar.
Attention: Look here in a minute for a link to a new thread. I am creating a thread specifically for you to post your character sheets in, so that you can modify them as needed, and I don't have to. Please only make one post there, and please do your best to keep your character sheet updated.
this will not be an OOC thread, nor will it be for questions, corrections, or other. One post. One character. If you have multiple characters, you can place them in separate posts s an archive. be sure to list them as dead/retired/ dormant or whatever. I will add this link to the OC as well.here is the link
