Mission briefings are at the bottom of the turnClunkers looks over the feng shui attachments for a moment, then says to following to gnomes.
"谢谢"
Clunkers then goes over to the sergeant.
"Query: Do you have any information about either the goblins or the mercenaries that might help this one and its allies complete the mission?"
Ask above to sergeant. Also use computing to see what I need to cast clockwork magic. Also computing to see if these feng shui additions actually do anything for me.
The goblins are savages. And I don't mean "vicious monsters" I mean their culture can be described as savage culture, with clans, tribes, rules of honor, ancestor worship, and signs of power being important. Don't expect them to act like city folk, nor to respond well to city ways. "face" is important. that means, if something will embarrass them, or make them appear weak or foolish, they will look for ways to redeem themselves, such as through direct confrontation. that doesn't mean that kissing ass is a good way to gain favor - it will make you look weak. Finally, they have powerful shamans, and other magical means.
the mercenaries are a band of diverse, adventurous types looking to make their fortune, to make a name for themselves, and to accumulate power. There is some loyalty between veteran members, but there is enough diversity of opinion and personality that fractures within the group are not unknown. they are armed, and have access to magic, just as you do. Expect them to use this.
((That wasn't really my full intention, but it's my bad for not making it clear enough. What I meant to do is to use the physical object I have power to manipulate (the coat) to interact with the object I cannot interact with directly (Jack).
Effectively, I imagine it would look like this: a coat flies off Mordred seemingly by itself and wraps Jack in a tight demon burrito.))
Please read the OOC remark for action clarification.
I see. that may have had some effect. We won't know now however. just know that telekenisis did not work directly on him and thephysical cloak was mostly irritating, but had some small effect.
secret sneaky action!
hide and follow the others to the mission. Place.
Ooookay. off you go. Hang out with the corpse and the machinery. ask about equipment.
"Jack doesn't have a proper physical body Mordred, brute force doesn't work on him. What I was testing was both creativity, and willingness to ask for help. Finding a way to move him or asking someone else to help you were the right answers. Sorry, but I'm trying to keep the team size low. You're out this time, but I hope to include you in a later mission."
- I'll go then. Good luck.
Where do they recruit for the mission about helping out them goblins? I'll go poke my head in there.
Off you go to the place with the corpse, the walking tick tock, and the guy with a death wish. Several death wishes, apparently.
"Thank you for understanding Mordred. Eye, you're on the team, pending requsitioning at least one more communication stone."
I'm looking into bringing the Eye, and want comm-stones to recieve info from it. Min 1, max 3, how many can I get?
Also, still want info on Aylia's portrait.
You get three stones. this was a requested upgrade from mission one. You test tehm each in turn and they appear to function through both speech and though a physical input device. can you read? If so, you should have no problem figuring out the physical input. If not, the speech function will work fine. there are a few symbols on the physical input that are icons of simple things, and these are explained to you by the gnomes "this one means retreat and regroup. this one means wait. this one means report. this one means scan the area..."
"Ah, your portrait. It was indeed produced within Omega. a singular individual, that one. We suspect a deep talent in farseeing, but it only really comes out in his art." a frown. "Sometimes his art has other effects though. tell me, what is your reaction to the painting? No, I am quite certain the artist never met you before he produced that wonderful work. a striking resemblance is it not?" ((sorry, I forgot to do this earlier))
"I sense I have been accepted for infiltration! Beautiful!"
Be in the place I gotta be!
You will be.
"This unit requests the briefing materials and a can of green and brown paint. Can of paint optional."
"you won't need the paint. the goal is to be inconspicuous, even when in plain sight, not to sneak in under disguise. Consider yourselves more like servantws: invisible even when carrying out your duties in close proximity to the principals." further briefing will follow in the briefing room (see below).
Terrance would prefer the wedding mission. If Aylia doesn't want him, he'll settle for escort duty.
Will you go on the combat mission instead? looks like we have four for that, two undecided (U_P and Spaz), and yourself. I can peel the two undecided's off, but four and three might be a bit small for these two missions.
Briefing, Team Bridesmaids - Aylia, Ebony, The Eye, Dar, Reggie, Fiddler
"All right, folks. Here'swahat you needto know. two elementals will be joining their lives and houses - if sucha term can be applied to such creatures- in a ceremony within their new home. The couple are nobles within their own spheres, and this union is brought about by high level politicking - am I boring you, Mister? Of course I am, all this is none of your business. that's the point. Your concern will be to ensure that the grounds are clear and set in a comfortable way for the wedding party, and to keep obstacles and riff raff from interfering. Some of the lower level guests might get rowdy, some might seek to sabotage the proceedings, and some might stumble into places they aren't supposed to be by accident.
How do you know who is riff raff, and who is honored nobility? a good question. I'm glad I asked it. if it is made of wood, dirt, air, or water, it is not your responsibility, even if it kills someone. Especially if it kills someone. If it shines, and feels like sunlight, ignore it.
Rodents are your responsibility. even two legged ones with tuxedos. ANYTHING THAT BURNS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. Except plain out fire elementals. those are beyond your ability, and the nobles will address that, should the unlikely event occur. Insects - now here is where the lines blur a little. if it is a natural insect, it is not your responsiblity. if it is an unnatural insect -workers will be your responsibility, queens and ssoldiers will not. Snakes, mammals and humanoids are all your responsibility, even if they wear crowns. unless it's our queen. But she won't be attending this event. Constructs and the undead are your responsibility.
Your job is to ensure that these various parties are both invited guests, and that they remain within designated areas and do only their designated duties. keep them out of trouble. And if uninvited guests come along, "handle" them."
You may request supplies for the mission, within reason. Questions?" (post questions, requests and your "prepare to leave" statements together in one post, if you would)
Briefing, Team Smashy Killy - Mordred, Clunkers, Solam, Arileth, Cho Ja, Jack, Terrance
"Alright, you probably have heard most of this already. A tribe of goblins has been targeted by a mercenary band. looking to chase them out of their current homeland. the Tribe is customarily migrant in nature, and though they haven't lived in this region for several generations, it is within their normal routes. But some city folk - from another nation- have put a price on their heads, and this band aims to collect. they seek fortune and status. the Goblins seek only what they always have. the mercenary band is trained, and works together as a team. there are different races and different specializations within, including warriors, archers, magic throwers, and an officer corp. A head on battle will likely be your last, as they are a larger group and have soem experience. however, they have some weaknesses. they may act as a team, but, much like you newbies, there is internal conflict. Additionally, they will not be expecting you. use stealth and surprise to your advantage. Form a plan and act on it. Your main goal is to drive this band out of the region, making it give up on this adventure. Destroy their base or claim it, kill them all or scare them off, bribe them or deceive them. Set them at each other's throat or hire tehm for Omega for all I care.
Accepting this mission will give you a minor gaes which will prevent you from actively attempting to destroy the goblin tribe. But, in certain circumstances, if one needs to combat a goblin directly for some valid reason, the gaes will not activate. Now, you will be issued some armor if you need it, and some weapons. Don't get greedy. Leather, ring and scale are available. A few magical devices might be had additionally, if you make a clear case for them. Questions?" (post questions, requests and your "prepare to leave" statements together in one post, if you would)
