Forges & furnaces, grates & security
« on: January 27, 2008, 09:49:00 pm »

Hey, hopefully this will be an easy question to answer.  I'm just about to set up my first ever magma-fueled workshop, and I'm trying to figure out if workshops can be built over floor grates to keep out the magma creatures.  Or am I going to have to make some vertical bars to go further down the magma tunnel?

RSVP, thanks.

I wouldn't expect workshops would be able to be built over grates. Bars or fortifications in the magma tunnel would be a better option.

Sweet, thanks.  That saves me some aggravation later on.

Also, I really hope Toady adds a filter on workshops to limit what materials they could use.  That would make life SO much easier.  I'm sure I'm not the first person to express that thought.

Edit: Just completing my thought.

Can axles run through floor grates?

No, you can't build axles on floor grates. Underneath, sure, but the power won't have anywhere to go.
