Right, it's been long enough. For now, she won't do anything at the bonfire.

OK, so you've found your first equippable item.
Equippable items can be taken on and off with an action.

They can provide various bonuses - and penalities, depending on the item.

My resistance is pretty good, does anyone feel like they could use +2 RES vs thunder?

On the one hand, my RES is never going to be good, a little might help. On the other hand, my RES is never going to be good, +2 isn't going to matter in the long term. Maybe I can have it for this early part, and then when it's no longer much of a help to me but might make a difference for someone else, I can hand it off?

It seems like a good idea to hand it off to the lowest RES in the party until someone else needs it.

Seems sensible. I'll pass it off when it becomes convenient to do so.

Edit: NOW I UNDERSTAND~
assuming I know how to sacrifice humanity to improve flask: Improve flask use to make it 3/3 uses.

That's not how quite it works, no.
You can sacrifice humanity to kindle bonfires, and that will allow you to fill your estus over the maximum at that bonfire - i.e if you sacrifice 2 humanity you could fill your estus to 3/1.
Without the Rite of Kindling, bonfires can only be kindled to 3 charges.
...Yeah let's not do that .-. I misread the OP.
Maybe I can make a suggestion for edits for the fatigued-reader or the non-Dark-Souls player? :D

Quote
Humanity

Humanity is, well, what makes you you, rather than a mindless Hollow.
You start with a certain amount. You won't know the precise number - instead, on your sheet will be a generalised signifier, i.e High, low, Almost Hollow, etc.
You can lose humanity various ways - most commonly, being downed.

When you run out of humanity, you turn Hollow, and become a mindless undead. The only thing to do is for your ex-allies to put you down.

Bonfires

When you kindle a bonfire, you may use an action to refill your estus flask at it, or heal the same amount you would if you used an estus flask. This costs nothing but time.
Later, you may be able to kindle a bonfire by spending humanity at it, to give a boost to the estus flask.

If you are downed, you lose a small amount of humanity. After three turns you lose a larger quantity of humanity, and respawn at the nearest lit bonfire.
If no bonfire is lit that map, you do not respawn until one is lit.

Estus
Instead of a vulnerary, you begin with a single-use estus, healing 10HP each use. This can be upgraded for each person in both number of uses and amount healed.

Humanity is the difference between you and the Hollows that roam the land. It's a relative, nominal value representing how much of 'You'rself you retain.
