At the turn of the century, monsters appeared. Demons? Aliens? Gaia's anger? These questions could not be answered while the end of humanity was in fully swing. All our armies, united for the first time vs a common enemy were unable to stop the horde, but ours tactics were able to slow the discordant mob, giving us time.
With the towns and villages wrote off as lost, we build walls around our remaining cities and developed our warfare to combat the threat. But each new superweapon build up our hope and crushed it time and time again as it was not quite effective enough.
Then, in 2018, Dr Jung did something amazing and horrifying. Project Soul Forged. In a time of peace, Jung would of been locked up for crimes against humanity, all those failed attempts, all those stilled bodies. But in this time of extinction, a single success save him.
As the walls around Tallahassee, Florida fell and the tide of monsters rushed forth, the mad doctor magus opus appeared. Caitlin Goodlove, a housewife that had missing for 4 months, stood before the tide, gripping an axe twice her height and covered in scars from the 'good' doctor and drove it back, with help from the army.
After the battle, it emerged that Caitlin's axe was her soul, bought out by Jung's actions. While the act horrified the religious groups, no one deny that the mad man had brought hope to an broken people.
Now two years later, we focus on a group of five soul forgeds unaware of the strings of fate they hold in their hands.

which will end far too soon, but we shall have fun till then.So the setting is earth, but nearly all non-cities are lost to the tide and also some cites. I'm playing loose on which ones so don't worry if you want to play a character from

Age: While you could have 90 year old, the soul forge process is still new and the fatality rate is not 0% and rises with age of the patient. Plus what government is going to use a fairly cost heavy op on someone who will die of old age any moment soon. Assuming that the soul forge op does not make one immortal. Early days and all.
Of course, at the other end, what with lower death rates and the war, it not uncommon to see 13-17 soul forgeds. A hard limit of age 13 was set after the newborn incident*, but this was only a few months ago so the rare 9-10 soul forged still wander around.
Looks:The soul forge op has been known to cause, odd hair colours, glowing hair, odd eyes colours, glowing eyes, claws, fangs, non-human skin(fur, scales), odd skin colours, extra ears with looks common with some animals(bunny ears, etc), tails, horns, non-functional wings and morning sickness.
Despite rumors, is has not caused, non-humanoid shape, muti-hue hair colours, impossible eye pattens(think Al-bed(FFX) and most eye-based bloodline from naruto.), tentacles replacements of any limbs, hermaphroditism or spontaneous dance numbers.
Weapon: This is your soul, and thus should reflex you. E.G. a kind soul would have a staff or a shield while a honest one would have an axe or gloves and a cold hearted one uses a scythe or a rapier. Also describe it's looks
Element:Magic. Just choose something. Also Time is a vector not an element.
Stats: you have 120 points to spend. max of 50 in a single stat.
Strength: Your 'magic' will tend toward physical damage and will help with brute checks like bashing a lock door open.
Magic: Your magic will tend toward magic damage and will help with magic checks like working out the door is a illusion.
Dexterity: You hit and dodge more and will help with fitness checks like lock picking that door.
Toughness: You have more health and take less physical damage and will help with endure checks like what will happen after not finding out that door was supporting the unstable building.
Will: Like toughness but the magic half and will help with Will checks like not freezing when the Tide monster break through the door.
Charisma: Help you regenerate** and will help with Social checks like asking the gatekeeper to unlock the broken, not existing and supporting door.
