I'm not surprised.
humans were faceing extinction so there is plety of exsses stuff to go around.

humans seem to have averted extinction and are now more or less holding there own against the monsters. and its outright stated they made many attempts at building better weapons.

I got the impression the forge took quite some tech. but this leads me to my question


what exactly IS the soul forge operation. is the soul a physical thing inside your body that when removed grows and changes shape? or is a it metaphysical thing tied to your body that's separated from it and made physical by blasting you with energy?

Metaphyiscal, the patient is put in an energy field and is stressed(petty much torture) into what is more or less an out of body experience. The soul, while unprotected by the materiel body, is crystallized into a weapon or tool. A poorly done operation create a suit like Graham Kingsley's.

Petty much everything, it just offensively useless vs the Tide, so tanks and missile racks are a common sight to see abandoned while transport like aircrafts and jeeps are invaluable. That said, conventional weapons are not out of use and the remaining cities are lined with guns to support the soul forged defense.

So, a botched operation succeeds in materializing the soul, but fails to detach it from the body. Interesting. When I was creating Graham, I decided that thoughts like 'protect yourself' and 'hide your true self' are the reason why his soul took the form of a full suit of armor, but I'll remember this if I get into the game.

And by the way, what happens to the soul when a Soulforged dies? Does it fade away? Or does it still exist?

Because if the soul still exists, tropes dictate that there's a high chance that we will fight against a rogue Soulforged that steals the souls of others.
