100 credits for a shot at that damn merchant was tempting, but probably not worth it. Robert heads back to the ship to check how everyone else is getting along.

The disgraced engineer felt himself begin to sweat as he struggled to keep his smile.  "That's right, I'm part of a crew of six freelancers.  You know, that reminds me of a story, Jenson..."

Place the holo-wrist at a fixed location and begin typing furiously on the ship's computers, attempting to whitewash the crew's histories, as I desperately stall the rep for time.

Roll Computer Skills (+1). Difficulty 40. Roll 19.

You consider hacking the region's database of citizens, then realise that not only do you not have time; nor do you have any idea where to begin.

"That's... fantastic, sir. But, back to the topic on hand; are you still interested?"

After they finish talking and have said their goodbyes, he'd continue on to check his contacts in the medical community. Maybe they'll have something. Medical supplies are always in demand after all.

Unfortunately, the small amount of contacts you have in the medical field are not answering your hails.

Lets talk pricing here. If I was looking for a few old screen terminals and enough scrap to install them, how much would we be talking? And what do you have in the way of drone parts? I'm looking to construct something small and animated, with a basic AI. I ask the junker.

Roll Finances (+0). Difficulty 6. Result: 5 Failure

The junk dealer's sealed lips shift as he presumably nibbles on the skin within; he rolls his shoulders about as he looks around.

If you're looking to hook up some interfaces to something, I've probably got some old monitors and cables. I'll give you one set, 10 credits a piece - heck, I'll even give you a 10% discount for each you buy - how does that sound?

As for a drone, what purpose do you have in mind? If you're putting a toy together that can move around, no problem. If you're looking for any advanced capabilities; 3D recognition, sensors, utility capabilities, etc, let me know. That'll effect the price."

Saxson smiles apologetically.  "Absolutely.  Sorry about that, sometimes I can't help but share a good story."

Tell him to go ahead.  Pray he doesn't find out about the Zephyr.

((Darn thing stopped notifying me.))

Use the materials and parts to repair the most essential parts of the ship in order of criticalness.

((I'm thinking Teal is a better color then Cyan. Cyan rather hard to read on nondarkling.))

Does that mean if I buy ten I get a 100% discount? I crack a little smile. If that's the case, I'll take as many as I can. As for a drone yeah I'm looking for one with recognition sensors, utility capabilities, the works. Nothing too fancy though. i say the above

10% discount for each you buy

(Not all. i.e. 1 = 10, 2 = 18, 3 = 27, etc.)

Dante heads to the nearest spacer bar and orders the cheapest fruit-based drink. Then he waits to overhear promising information or anything that's an excuse to start a brawl.

Huh, I'll take two now. But I have a feeling I'll be needing more later. As for the drone, yeah I want all that sort of thing. Nothing too fancy though. say the above to the junker.

Saxson smiles apologetically.  "Absolutely.  Sorry about that, sometimes I can't help but share a good story."

Tell him to go ahead.  Pray he doesn't find out about the Zephyr.

"Fantastic," Jenson says. With verbal authorisation given, Jenson begins tapping away. "Bare with me just a moment."

After a moment, his glazed eyes refocus and turn toward you once again. "So according to your ship's manifest, you have a crew of six." He lists yourself and your new-found accomplices. "Is this correct?"

You nod and agree.

"Excellent. I've forwarded your crew and their backgrounds to our algorithm, and you are suitable for a few jobs..."

Single-Drop Freighter
Collection: SilverCorp Depot, Torona Strip [Core]
Destination: Karabi-Joon Private Hospital, Oblon Nine [Middle Rim]
Pay: 1450 Credits

Multi-Drop Freighter
Collection: SilverCorp HQ, Polotta [Middle Rim]
Destination: SilverCorp Depot, Gorgonia [Middle Rim]
Destination: SilverCorp Depot, Torona Strip [Core]
Pay: 1900 Credits

VIP Order
Collection: SilverCorp Depot, Yaris Lo [Middle Rim]
Destination: Mr Clive Masters, Sanctuary [Liberty]
Pay: 1600 Credits

"... the contract is, that we pay you half up-front and half on completion of the job. If you are late or fail to complete the delivery, you will not receive a completion fee. Failure to return goods will result in, unfortunately, involvement of the Galactic Enforcement Committee.

Outstanding and, or simply Successful, completion of jobs will result in greater trust and possibly stronger links between ourselves and you and your crew." Jenson casually shuffles back in his chair with a friendly and welcoming attribute. "So. Are you interested?"

Use the materials and parts to repair the most essential parts of the ship in order of criticalness.

Code: [Select]
Starship Mechanic Roll (+2)
Difficulty: 6
Modifier; Unsuitable Tools (-3)
Result: 7, Success

You Grab what tools you can find that might be of use, or hunks of metal to use as hammers and shards of plasteel to apply to screws, and begin covering up holes and binding loose cables. Before you know it, the cargo hold and engineering are looking rather presentable - you're not likely to receive an electric-related burn anymore in these rooms, anyway. (+15xp)

Dante heads to the nearest spacer bar and orders the cheapest fruit-based drink. Then he waits to overhear promising information or anything that's an excuse to start a brawl.

Dante comes across a bar with a signage designating it as "The Ticky Ricky Rock" - how strange. You head inside and cough up a couple of credits from your account for a watered down fruity drink advertised as "95% Juice". It tastes like flavoured water, at a stretch.

Code: [Select]
Perception Roll (+2).
Difficulty: 6
Result: 4 (Failure)

You take into account the room and its attendance of persons. Salty backwaterers, weather-worn traders and black-faced deep miners populate the place. They smoke, they gamble, they laugh and they beer, but from the buzz and rumble of the noise they collectively emit, you extract nothing. You seem to have entered the place without notice, or perhaps without care, of these people.

Code: [Select]
Event Roll.
Difficulty: ???
Result: 19

Code: [Select]
Perception Roll (+2).
Difficulty: 7
Result: Critical Failure

You turn back to your drink, and a stranger suddenly appears next to you, leaning over a smoking-cool green bottle of Whip Cider. His wide-brimmed hat is pulled low so all you see is the tip of his nose and jaw, shadowed as they are in the dim light. His face is well-shaven and his long hair hangs low in collected, soft curls; but black and oily in thick vines. His attire is of tanned leather and unbuttoned, greyed fibrous shirt.

"Are you Dante Chaucer?" he mutters, seemingly unmoving.

Huh, I'll take two now. But I have a feeling I'll be needing more later. As for the drone, yeah I want all that sort of thing. Nothing too fancy though. say the above to the junker.

The guy loads up his terminal for transfer of credits and turns to his stock. He returns with two terminals, two sets of cables, some small scrap metal, motors, tiny chip boards and a few basic sensors.

"That'll be 58 Credits."

"Probably, possibly, maybe. Chaucer comma Dante, at your service. Demon of the darkness, observer of world's ends, recently deprived of his favorite jacket and all that. Lemee get you a drink and see what I can do for you."

Dante smiles and orders two more drinks, then carefully moves his current drinking vessel, be it a glass or bottle, so it'd be convenient if he has to hit someone with it."

Perfect. These'll do the trick and give me something to tinker with. I have a feeling I'll be needing more supplies in the future. Can I get the contact information for your business here? I say to the junker. (whether or not he gives me his business number) I take the supplies and return to ship. I take them directly to the engineering room.

Saxson's smile, multitudinous in its affectations indeed, changes to one of relief.  "The VIP run sounds great, Jenson.  We of course have the Sanctuary record, but is there any chance the company could provide the Yaris Lo record?  No worries if not, I'm sure we can pick it up somewhere."

Accept the VIP Order.  Ask him for the Yaris Lo navigational record.

The man interrupts your dialogue; "You... You're a monster! You murdered my little brother! He wasn't a bad kid, he just got caught up in it!" his fury builds quickly and his excess of tongue is evidently caused by inebriation. You didn't quite see it coming, but you were able to dodge the switchblade suddenly in his hand and slashing at your throat by slipping sidewards out of your stool and kicking it in his direction whilst you gather yourself.

You left your bottle behind on the bar, now beside the man and simply too far to reach before a blade would probably bite into your arm.

The rumble of voices has quietened as they look on in quiet interest. The thick smog of cigar smoke has swirled by the sudden movements at the bar. The man's face is now visible and his amber eyes are afire. Though, it's a shame as you're still not quite sure what he's talking about. The blade is brandished in his hand as he stands across from you, ready for a fight.

"Take it outside!" the barman shouts at the attacker, though he doesn't flinch. Nobody moves, wary of the blade.

Perfect. These'll do the trick and give me something to tinker with. I have a feeling I'll be needing more supplies in the future. Can I get the contact information for your business here? "Certainly," he says. "My name's Jacob; Jacob Swann. Here's my number if you ever need any parts expediting your way - same day export to the nearest Web Anchor ." He takes your card for payment and when finished, places it with the heap of metals. He swipes a card over your HoloWrist, which pops up with "Do you want to add Jacob Swanns to your contacts?". You hit the confirmation and scoop up your goodies and take them back to the Mise de Feu.

"Well shit, would you hold my drinks for me if I headed back into the cold and the wind?"

Dante idly puts thoughts of dead little brothers to the side, taking in the situation and looking for the best plan of attack. Is there an ash tray or anything else well placed to throw? Does mystery assailant number 1 look like he knows what he's doing? If he's drunk enough and not handy looking with a blade, Dante will try throwing something and closing quick, trusting his clothes to let him close the distance with a glancing slash instead of a getting properly stuck. If that doesn't look appealing, he'll keep his distance, reassess, and consider reasoning.

After arriving back at the ship I realize how stupid I am to have forgotten to get an engineering kit! I take note of all the supplies and decide to install a terminal in the engine room, hooking it up to the entire ship system. (Unless I need tools that I don't have. If I need tools to install it then look for tools around the ship, otherwise run system diagnostics).
