I get tired enough my fate is being dictated by everyone else... but I still can't stomach the fact good people are dying...!"

Sophia's face contorts into a mixture of anger and fear. The foe was human. Human. She thought that only monsters could be vilified, but apparently someone else had been playing around. Someone more than a monster.

Someone who likely kills, to avoid being killed...?

Were they perhaps scared...? Sophia, having regained her wits somewhat, tried to empathize with the monster all the while the talks were still happening.


"S-Start over?! Do things right?! I never wanted to be here!"

She slowly softens her voice as it would be rude to keep a raised and angry voice over someone they just met.

"I just wanted to go home... And I never woke up from this bad dream."

[SOLDIER First]

"huh. nobody told me."

"what's up, kid?"

"A killer?  What?  I just want to go home too.  This is not the adventure I thought it would be...  If I could, I would go back and stop myself from ever going up the mountain."

"Stop being a wuss! Just a small nuisance causing a problem in Snowdin. I'm about to go give em' hell."

: Good to hear, Captain!

: I don't know what came over me.

: Obviously, one as glorious as I could never be truly afraid?

: But, er, what should I do about Gell's pet humans?

: Should I try (and, of course, succeed due to my unparallelled talents) and capture them?

: Or just keep an eye on them until you're free to come and deal with them yourself?

: I am of course willing to share my well-deserved glory, Captain.

"sadly, your determination can't bring you back that far... but i think it is time for you to learn, about what your determination really means."
"i'm going to do something, to do something weird. i'm going to tell you a secret codeword that only I know; 'i'm a doo-doo butt'. remember that. when you return, tell me that codeword so i know."
"and don't get the wrong idea, because i'm just as confused as you are about this. maybe what i'm about to do will solve that. excuse me, i have a quick call to make..."
Sans brought out his phone, dialing a number before placing it on the bar counter and letting it ring. He then calmly set his hands on his lap, as his eye began to glow blue.
"sorry old lady."

Suddenly, in the air appeared four animal skulls of what appeared to be dragons or goats, aimed at them as blue flashes from its mouth. Before they could even turn to look, a blinding beam of white energy shot at them and obliterated them in a moment of painless death.

"...what's up? ｙｏｕ＇ｒｅ  ｉｎ  ｍｙ  ｗａｙ," it said, red glinting in those evil eyes. In Hedron's pocket, his phone began to ring.
"Yes. Capture them, and take them straight to Asgore. If the human makes it, he needs to absorb the SOULs..."

[SOLDIER First]

"hold that though, i'm getting a call."

He answers the phone, fully expecting nothing to happen after he does so.

"uh-huh. ...yup. ...okay. ...sure, i'll tell them."

He hangs up, before shrugging apologetically at the human.

"sorry, kid."

"Looks like I h a v e t o k i l l y o u n o w ."

Suddenly, an enormous pentagonal dodecahedron of purple energy appears, surrounding the... thing.
It's partially transparent, but slowly turning opaque. And painful.
Hedron waves goodbye, and then the human doesn't feel anything anymore.

They suddenly find themselves in darkness, two words hanging above them, "CONTINUE" and "RESET". Standing in the center of a sourceless light is a child, just like them; dark brown hair, striped dusty shirt... but something about her seemed malicious and evil.
"Oh?" she said, turning a red eye at them.
"Humans... just like me, hm? Your determination brought you here."
In her right hand dangled a metallic knife, dull from white dust.

Lazarus looks the 'human' up and down.
"_Yeah."

"Hi!  It is so good to see another human!  Umm... your knife needs a dusting you know!"

"Where are we...?"

Lazarus looks towards the reset button.

"No, I don't think I'll ever dust this knife. It reminds me of all the sweet pain I caused to every monster I've ever killed."

"Where are we...?"

"My manifestation of the RESET function... time travel, in simple terms."

Lazarus looks the 'human' up and down.
"_Yeah."

"Anyways, seeing you all are here, you're going to remember this. Here's a little tip that might help you make it in this world... don't cross me. This is my timeline, I have the most determination, and there is nothing you can do about that."

She looked at the CONTINUE button, then back at them.
"We'll probably meet again, but hope that we don't. I have to go, I have bigger fish to fry."

A bright flash of white light came over them, and suddenly they found themselves back in Gell's shed, next to him. Reprise was in the room as well, gloating about himself. Everything was the same, as if they traveled through time...


"Okay. Bro, what's wrong?"
From behind the door, Sans slid in.
"heya."
"S-Sans!?"
"gee, hedron, three humans? three?"
"i thought one human was bad enough. but, three?"
"i hope they mean well."

Sans chuckled for a moment, and then looked at the humans again.
"what's the matter, got something to say?"
