Lazarus stares at the dust on his everything. It's hard to tell what he's thinking.

"Unjust kill."

Stanley, who was hiding behind a boulder, came out.
"Sorry, didn't want to get in the crossfi-"
"You... killed her?"

Alvin stared down at the pile of dust that until recently had been a thinking, feeling being.  He felt his eyes welling up with tears.  "N-no!  I— I didn't mean to k-kill her..."  The little boy sat down listlessly.

There is a splashing noise in the far distance...

Lazarus doesn't respond, he's still stunned and looking at himself.

Alvin was sobbing softly.  "No, no, I'm so sorry!  Get up, please get up!"

"Is there anything we can do for her?  Please, anything at all?"

Lazarus turns to Alvin. Considering that he's covered in the former snake...

Alvin, gasping, looked at Lazarus in horror.  "Lazarus...!  You're covered in, she's, the snake...!"  He backed up a little.  "What... what have we done?"

Lazarus looks down at himself. And then he vomits.

Gold coins lie in the dust. They're covered in snake oil.

Alvin ignores them.  His agitated state slips quickly into despondence.  He seems to be staring at the ground.  "...Stanley.  We need to find her family and tell them what happened.  She said she had a brother."

Suddenly, Alvin perked up.  "Wait!  Lazarus, I need you to... I need you to kill me."

Lazarus wipes his mouth and then looks at Alvin like he's crazy.
