Lazarus doesn't have time for this. He attacks.

Alvin goes over to the lake, gathers some water in his shirt, and splashes it on Jojo.  "Bad dog!  Calm down!"

Unda pops up and sprays a stream of water at Jojo as well.

Jojo attacks with a massive spiral going out towards them!
Sophia DODGES the attack!
Lazarus DODGES the attack!
Alvin takes 9 damage.

Sophia uses SPARE, because Trap isn't here.

Lazarus uses FIGHT and attacks Jojo! His knife slashes Jojo, hitting him to deal 9 damage!

Alvin uses ITEM and offers Jojo his doggy treat. He perceives it as unhealthy and makes the correct life choice to convulse on the ground!

Unda spits water at Jojo, making him wet!
"Maybe if you hit him a couple of times, you can SPARE him. Just be careful."

It was clear to Alvin now.  In this hellish place where flowers were homicidal, mother figures beat children and held them in captivity, and even puppies wanted to hurt them all, force must be met with force.

Punch him.

Alvin's smile is nowhere to be seen.  "Misunderstood, you say?  Many of them seem to be hostile and have bad intentions, either to harm or trick us, and furthermore will only change their minds when they are beaten, as you have said.  I think I understand them just fine."

"What? Don't you see him? He's not trying to hurt you, he just can't help himself..."

The boy's face is grim.  "You mean it is just his nature to seek others and hurt them, and he cannot stop himself?  I tried talking to him, telling him that he was hurting us, and he simply did not care."

"Hurting anything in your path is not the answer to that!"

[Nunzillor]

Though his eyes began to tear, Alvin refused to budge.  "Stanley.  Since I came here I've been held captive, kidnapped, frozen alive, physically abused, killed, and tricked at least 3 times, all because I've looked for non-violent solutions.  I'm not going to let any of that happen again!  For my sake and for the sake of Sophia and Lazarus!"

"..Killed? What.. what are you talking about?"

"When... when I was talking to this skeleton named Sans, he began telling us all about determination and there was a flash of light.  Next thing I knew, we were... elsewhere.  I remember seeing, just for a split second, some kind of laser beam."

"I think, maybe, he killed us, but we came back using our determination?  It seemed crazy at the time, but I've been thinking it over and now I'm sure of it.  We have the ability to turn back time— even to reset death."
