Lazarus waits impatiently. He looks at the hole as well.
"Are we going to get warning or...?"

Alvin waits a second, looking fearful, and then grins.  "Looks like they didn't show up for work today." He then runs the entirety of the path before any monsters have a chance to come out.  "We win."

Lazarus pulls the knife he stole from out of his jacket.

"Woah, uh... w-where did you get that?  Umm... any chance we can talk this out?"

Meanwhile; in a decorated office room sat a large man of stone, casino music heard in the background. Billy recognized the large form of Shroomera walk in, hammer slung to his back as the massive rock and mushroom monster made his way inside.
"Eeey' boooss... we have news... from the far siiide of the quaarry. You'll liike this, heeh heeh."

Billy seemed to pay the mushroom monster no mind for a moment, still talking on the phone.
"Yeah, yeah... hold ON a moment, little MISSY. I need to TALK to SOMEONE for a MOMENT. Don't HANG UP." Putting a floating stone hand to cover the receiver, the stone man shoots Shroomera a glare.
"Does your CAP turn you BLIND or SOMETHING, SHROOM? Can't you see I'm BUSY talking BUSINESS? This better be IMPORTANT, or you better not be EXPECTING that BONUS."

"WHAT? Is this some sort of JOKE? Are you trying to PLAY me for a FOOL?" The stone man places the phone carefully facing upwards on the table, and then walks right in front of the short monster.
"Three HUMANS? THREE humans?! You got any PROOF, SHROOM?"

He pulled out and showed him a photo of three humans next to a target dummy.

Billy immediately grabs and looks at the photo, scrutinizing it.
"Three... humans. Three humans..."
The stone man walks over to a nearby drawer, pulling out sheet after sheet of paper, digging for something, occasionally muttering "Three humans..." under his breath. Finally, he brings out an old, crinkled page.
"Reward for... capturing a human... 30, 000 G... That means, three humans..."
"90, 000 G!! THAT will almost DOUBLE my NET WORTH!! I'm going to be rich, RICH, RICH!!"
"EYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAHAHAHAAAAHAAHAAHH!!"

"Ah..aahaa... Haaa..haaa ha! Hah... sooon we caaaan run things on the suurface, boss..?"

"Yeah, I'll have an even LARGER bunch who'll willingly THROW all their MONEY at ME! And they'll be SURE to know ME- I'll be FAMOUS cause of this, too! EVERYONE will FLOCK to Billy's! This is a SOLID day for my BANK ACCOUNT, my PR, and my DEMOGRAPHIC!"
The tycoon runs back to his desk, and picks up the phone.
"Sorry, little MISSY, but SOMETHING just CAME UP. I'll TALK to you LATER." He then slams it onto the rotary dial.
"Alright, SHROOM, I'm going to make this CLEAR. If you see the three HUMANS, you're not going to KILL them on SIGHT. Instead, you're going to have to act FRIENDLY, guide them all the way to HERE, ALIVE. Protect them from the WILDLIFE if you have to, just make sure they DON'T. RUN. AWAY. FROM. YOU. UNDERSTAND?"
