Why, indeed?  Had she locked it when they arrived?  There would be no reason for her to bar access to a drawer when she was the only one here.  Assuming that Laykos was keeping a terrible secret in that drawer, and filled with both curiousity and dread, Alvin looks under the bed and in the dresser for anything resembling a key.

The only thing she could find under the dresser was a shoebox of socks... even after scourging the whole room, it remains unfound. Perhaps it is someplace else, or perhaps even on her person?

Lazarus nods and goes to fetch the white sauce as indicated. And also snoop around in it for anything unusual.

Only exotic monster foods, such as many jars of homemade moldberry jelly.
"Thank you, my child. Can you stir the noodles while I go get something?"

Lazarus nods and goes to start on that.

It looked like Alvin had hit a dead end.  He left and inspected what seemed like their room instead, looking for signs of prior inhabitants.

Laykos moves out the kitchen and through the door into the hallway. Alvin hears footsteps outside...

Their room had been cleaned extremely well, erasing it's history. The only thing he seems to find is old unsigned drawings as well as toys.

Hearing what didn't sound like child footsteps in the hall, Alvin hides and waits for Laykos to pass before following her, watching her closely and taking great effort not be heard.

Laykos entered her room and reached at the top of her closet, grabbing what appeared to be a camera before she turned to walk out.

Alvin goes back to "their" room and hides again.  This time, he goes back into Laykos' room when she passes, checking the closet for anything else he might've missed.

The closet seemed to contain clothes fit for a fox woman; but he found a shoebox in the lower cabinet, containing what seemed to be pictures. Most of them were pictures of beautiful cave sights and foods, but in the dusty corner he saw a picture of Laykos smiling behind a small girl. She had golden hair and green eyes, as well as a green striped shirt and blue jeans. Both of them were smiling, and the small girl was holding a cake decorated with colorful icing.

Was this Jacky...?  Where had she gone, and where had the other children gone?  Alvin was filled with a sense of foreboding.  He left the room, entered his room and sat on a bed, thinking about how he would confront Laykos during dinner with what he had found.

In the kitchen Laykos set the camera on the counter and took over dinner, draining the pasta and pouring them on plates with sauce. She called out after thanking Lazarus.
"Thank you for helping. Dinner is ready!"

Lazarus nods and goes to take a seat.

Alvin enters the kitchen and takes a seat at the table.  When everyone arrives, he begins to speak.  "Thank you, Laykos.  I... I appreciate how kind you've been, but I have some questions for you.  I want to know who Jacky is."

Her ears quickly sagged as her voice adopted a sorrowful tone.

"..Are you sure you wish to know?"

Lazarus gently pats the fox woman's arm.

"I'm sorry, but yes.  Yes I am."
