Regarding bad/unwanted books, you could build a big "Forbidden Archive" kind of building to store them in.

You just ruined my day, jerk.

edit: I felt like *I* was the asshole here.

Dwarves may only read if their personality desires it.

You can write a book that'll fix that!

I myself am going to experiment, but i'm still largely stuck in Fallout 4... so someone else will probably see results before me.

Up x 4 No, no. The best way to get people to read books isn't with a book. It's by making an adventurer who values books and can argue well, and having them go to your fortress to argue all the non-readers into becoming readers. Bonus points if you can make your adventurer a writer as well. Then you can write the books you want them to read, and then browbeat them into reading them. You know, like every Catholic nun teaching in a religious school ever.  :P

Sounds like bugs have been squashed to fix the issue of books not being copied which should help with all this

Now I'm wondering if it's possible for a dwarf to write a book about the worthlessness of learning, leading to self-sustaining illiteracy. Stressed philosopher gets burnout, ragequits academia

Could you mod books to increase their skill attribute gain and push massive skill gain on whoever reads it? Kind like the Matrix or Chuck with the Intersect.

I know kung fu.

So much potential in this thread and not a single 1984 reference.
Words can not my sadness.

I'm confused. You weren't already making them?

They said the walls were impregnable. You didn't have to prove me wrong by giving birth on them.

Nah, so far they were more like a gulag.
