I'll take that archer captain position. Just put the name as Pakabol. Keeping the trash in the slums since year 1.

I like how the queen is the one least in favor of dystopia. Apparently I'm a figurehead or something.

Heiterverzweiflung. Not a legit German word so much as something a friend and I made up in German class once. "Carefree despair". When life is so fucked that you can't stop laughing.

In the shantytown, the only queen is cold, hard dwarfbux/humanbux.

Freezing weather adds to that poverty and despair theme, thus need more babies, for peasant power!

The mead hall is in the way of progress. It must be torn down and replaced with a powerful stone tavern.

We also had a siege, LadyBrassroast got 7-8 more kills. There was one survivor, pictured here. I find myself with less time for flashy detailed updates.

Spoiler: Goblin Survivor (click to show/hide)

There was only ONE fatality, despite a mass of 20ish goblins. Multiple injuries, Chaos remains in critical condition (all hands were on deck for this one).

Not at all. LadyBrassroast dodged everything that came her way. I can't get to the actual list right now, but everyone was properly taken care of. We had a supply of soap, so hopefully infection won't be a concern.

We did run out of beds. Chaos was plopped down directly on the Head Physician's desk. My only concern is that we have nothing to set bones with. They seem to heal well enough on their own, but it takes longer. Chaos, for instance, has some smashed ribs.

Chaos appears to have recovered, and the health screen shows no permanent damage.

Sanctumea and DaParrot have married! Also, it is time to get important humans married. That is top of the to-do list before they get too old.

While I would rather not make a habit of it, does anyone have a preference for whom they found their possible pasting dynasty? Especially our Queen. I can arrange marriages using the Love Shack.  All the starting 7 will have noble lines of some kind, we will see how it evolves.

::EDIT::

Also, PAKABOL GRAPEMUTED has become Militia Caption of the new Archery Squad.

Marry me to the next-best male soldier, and make my children soldiers, who will marry soldiers and sire many soldiers, etc.

Will do. I'm still chugging along.

I have a baby coming, apparently you need to "prepare the house" and "buy a goddam medicine cabinet, he can't eat Tylenol what is wrong with you" I don't know. Who knew this involved work.

You'll also need those plug-protectors (little plastic doohikeys that keep junior from frying his/her poor widdle brain when exploring the room by touching and tasting it.)  You'd be surprised how much babies resemble dwarves in their decision making algorithm.  Unfortunately, a fussy baby is often the same as one with a "special mood".  Sometimes burps and milk suffice, but sometimes the little tyke is heartbroken because they were scared by a passing glint of light on the wall or the rumble of a truck three blocks away.

So, alcohol and mushrooms then. I'm glad I came here for advice. Do you have to give them multiple types of alcohol, or will mushroom wine do it?

Nah, just kidding though. We've got cabinet locks and plug protectors all happening. Apparently he's orienting himself for birth a month early, so I might have my hands full a bit earlier than I thought. The real question is how long before I can get him to play a community fort with me.  8)

If you work on early training, I'd expect more than a decade. If you give him a good idea of what decisions are being made, I imagine you can consult him for decisionmaking aid as soon as he starts talking.

Her Communist Majesty approves.
