Getting ready to use pumps to go deeper. We are now 6z deep. 6 Carpenters are working around the clock to provide pump parts.

I'm also proud to say that LadyBrassroast's militia has reached a general level of "competent" with their respective weapons. Additionally, our good militia commander in now the proud owner of one normal-quality two-handed iron sword.

It's 6z deep, this aquifer. Is that possible?

If this doesn't get sorted out before DFhack updates, I'm removing aquifers. I think 6z is enough. O_O

I havr not yet begun to fight.

The deepest aquifer I've done is 7.

This list of where aquifers are found is handy: http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Aquifer#Where_they_are_found

I'm going to crack this aquifer.

Also, the previous capital of Relievedwhiskers was conquered by goblins.

DF-hack was just tentatively released, but I'm going to give this one more go. Wouldn't want to tarnish my sterling reputation, after all.

If I can't crack it today, I'm going to remove this horrible deluge from the map, and good riddance. I thought about removing individual tiles, but then I'd have all the benefits and none of the challenge that comes with aquifers. Don't want to go quite that far with it.

First though, I want to look at exactly how deep it goes.

It was 11z deep, and I am not dealing with that. I loaded a backup and destroyed all aquifers on the map. I am sorry for my weakness. After I commit seppuku, I'll be back with some kind of real update.

Multi-Z rendering doesn't appear to be a thing yet, so here's a general overview of the village.

Currently it is dominated by a number of closely-placed hovels in the west, with a number of small, specialized farm plots in the center near the somewhat larger homes of our starting 7.

A town square (circle?) has been built with the first stone quarried in Blazecooks. You can also see the very large wood-log mead hall in the top right. The oblong building is a 3-story granary. Also, those woodpiles are huge, and I'm planning on making wooden items for sale from most of it. Our woodworkers are extremely skilled, and their wood shields tend currently sell for 250-300 a pop.

History has been updated to show that Black Magic was used in the removal of our Aquifer.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Overall, our main features are a robust farming diversity, extremely skilled woodcrafting/carpentry, and skilled performers of "The Silken Incense" form of singing, of which Queen Amperzand is quite the master.

UPDATE:
Bad news guys, "Jamek" has been missing for a week. I have no clue where he could have gone to. The walls all have ramps, and there were no cave ins. I'm sure we'll find out soon.

UPDATE:
BLAZECOOK has constructed what appear to be a kind of Bagpipe. The EDU consists of a leather bag and bellows which are used to force air through a melody pipe. Holes in the pipe are covered to create notes.

So in previous forts, I always included a multi-z screenshot of the village so you could watch it evolve. Since I don't have that available, I got Armok Vision to render it. I couldn't get it to render certain parts for some reason, for instance the bottom floors of the mead hall and masonry shop.

My usual image hosting thing has suddenly stopped working. This one is super low quality. What do you guys use?

That works really well. It still resulted in some pixilation, for some reason.

So hey, I want to get some more community input here. I still want to do the DEATH PYRAMID from the last fort. Anyone else have any ideas about where this should take us from here? All basic necessities have been met (outside of royal quality for the Queen's quarters, or a tomb of any kind), and we have stone.

Does someone's human need something specific? I'll even try to build an ancestral manor house or whatever to your specifications. Let's do this. Even if you don't have a human, fire off some suggestions.

Oh, and we have a small shrine to the God of Rivers, Hode.
