One fleet can be assigned to up to 3 naval regions.

I'm not sure how convoys move across the open ocean but around the Mediterranean and British Isles you can totally use chokepoints.  AFAIK a smaller fleet isn't just worse at engaging targets, its worse at finding them.  So you want to block all naval traffic to whichever country you're messing with in as few sea regions as possible.

I'm guessing convoys use the routes you can see on the map on one of the overlays. Not sure if they move them around if you start interdicting them in a certain region, but it'd be only logical that they do so.

My reccommendation would be an intermediate approach, figure out the most likely trading partners and the easiest ports to blockade effectively and just plop the fleets there. This may or may not be viable depending on who you're playing as and who you want to blockade.

I thought it would be something like that... Now I have to merge the 26 convoy raiding fleets...

Mechanics like these are making it really hard to make informed decisions.

Well, apparently in 1.1 you don't need to send all fleets to the same region to merge them, so there's that.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

So, what additions would you guys like to see in the game? For me, its airships and specialized equipment, specifically air mobile stuff (things like gliders and everything that fits in them, amphibious and gliding tanks, bridge layers, and having airships go hunting for subs and protecting convoys). Hell, just more late game things would be interesting. Helicopters!

I feel like the only thing I would want airships for would be the possibility of a steampunk or dieselpunk mod.  Or maybe even one based on the book Leviathan.

Honestly the gameplay itself seems pretty solid, I just wish the AI was better.  In particular its kinda ridiculous how much the US sucks sometimes.  Really changes the course of the whole war in singleplayer.

They where used a fair deal during the second world war, though it was almost exclusively for convoy escort and subhunting.

-edit-
And since one of the main reasons for them to loose importance so rapidly where something like two crashes, one of which already does not happen in game always, well, that adds alot of leeway.

Sure, you could have them, as a niche, early war, long range, slow tac bomber, but they wouldn't change the feel of the game. The game feels quite complete already, especially for a Paradox title. There are a few changes I'd like to see (like 100% resistance province spawning rebel divisions). Maybe the one thing I'd like would be a thougher logisticy thing. I've never felt like I was suffering from attrition badly. Right now, as Germany, the English have killed my fleet and planes and are raiding convoys with impunity and still I don't feel a crunch in my raw material imports.

Maybe force people to manufacture supplies?

I think they designed the new manufacturing system around not having that sort of thing to go on. Possibly to make it easier, but I dunno.

Hey, is there a specific way to damage infrastructure via bombing? I think strategic bombing may do it, but there may be another way to that I am missing.

I don't think. You can strat bomb with tax bombers, strat bombers and missiles. I'm not sure you can go scorched earth. That would probably be nice.

you know armored cars and maybe horses as a manpower type resource would be nice, It's kinda weird that I could field enough horses to totally get around my movement problems and having a armored unit as middle ground for motorized units and light tanks.

Those would be interesting, but probably would just be a pain in the ass when it comes to the horses. Armored cars though... That would be fun.

The problem is horses take too long breed. You'd have maybe three new generations in your game where they'd be useful, MAYBE.

And men don't? It'll atleast make attacking and occuping a nations farmlands more worthwhile if they don't have resources.
