My most recent mayor in goldenthunder likes obsidian and swords. I have an obsidian strata and i'm in a forest. She survived a fey mood and her being a legendary stonecrafter is what probably got her elected.

The previous guy demanded platinum spikes. So i bougth the only platinum bar the traders happened to bring 2 weeks later and i crafted it into a spike, put it in a 1x1 room together with the mayor and told a farmer to go yank the lever outside the door untill the demand was gone.

I like my mayor.  His obsessions are bins and iron, which are always easy to satisfy.  I built some special iron furniture just for him.
The other nobles are a serious pain.  They banned the export of cages.  Immediately after I finished caging all the useless animals so I could dump them on the humans, they banned the export of cages.  Jerks.

My mayor's only set one mandate so far: he's banned the export of adamantine items  :D Considering I'm on a map without adamantium, I don't think there'll be a problem there  :D

There are three things I know about dwarves:
1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.

That brings up an interesting question...  Since adamantine requires an entirely different set of skills, and none of your dwarves have those skills, who gets punished?  Would it be the metalsmiths, or will the mayor just get upset because there's nobody to smack about?

Or will he find some random hauler to punish so he feels better?

I know that in Nist Akath punishment for failure seems to involve a roulette wheel with the names of all the dwarves on it.

My mayor likes gold and barrels.

Unfortunately, he also likes windows. A lot. He likes them so much that he mandates them periodically. In fact, there are even engravings of him being surrounded by windows. I suppose the engravers are poking fun at him due to the fact there is no sand.

It's a metalsmith who gets it, yup.
