See, that's metagaming, IMO. If we try this, there's a damn good chance she'll get caught in the crossfire, and it's traumatic to see your mother die right in front of you, even if you can resurrect them (at a unthinkably high cost at this point, mind you).
And what do you think is going to happen if we just leave her there? She's probably going to be tortured or something!

We were protected by her all of these years; the least we can do is return the favor.
And if we go for her, we put all those years on the line, rendering them wasted if we die. We're outgunned. We need to go find our uncle.

We are not abandoning our mother!

Let's contact her (with a Silent Message) and see how many spells/spell slots she has left and learn more about our situation- then we can decide.

*slow clap* Well ATHATH congratulations. You managed to give the MC a mental breakdown before we even finished the first arc.
I didn't even read it first, I just saw it was ATHATH and noped it. Now that I read it x3 to noping

We are not abandoning our mother!
It's a tactical retreat.

But, yes, this.

Actually- how many guards are here? We could be totally over-reacting here.

A full mercenary company. You can count 50+, and there could be more than you can't see from your position.

NOPENOPENOPENOPEWEGOFASTNOW
Dude, it's not that bad. We're a spellcaster, and a sneaky one at that. We can run twice as fast as a normal man, choke people Darth Vader-style with a cantrip (depending on the DM's interpretation of the spell Close), bend minds to our cause, disguise ourselves as anyone, and knock out three-quarters of the people that do see us. Plus, our mother probably has some magic left over. We'll be fine.

Do we have a knife or a dagger? May we swap out Improved Initiative for Human Heritage (so we can heal from both positive and negative energy)?

You cannot use Close to choke people. The description of the spell says that if there is any opposition, the spell fails. And believe me, the larynx of a living person would present opposition. Basic biology teaches that.

All your equipment is on the character sheet. And as for feats, people will have to vote on that.

Aw.

Well, we can always just Daze our pursuers, or blind them with Dancing Lights.

We have a rapier but I say we get more information from mom before doing anything talin defintly would not want to leave her  and personally why else would they capture our mom then to use her as a hostage this could end badly if not done smartly.

How many of them are archers?

How far is our mother from the forest?

At the very least, we should try to find where they are going. However, wait a day when they leave. Experienced bandits know that there might be stragglers or scouts from the king or whatnot. A day will make it so their scouts wont find you, but the signs of their travel will still be fresh

Guys. I cannot stress this enough. Situations like this are our strong point. If we were a Fighter, I'd agree with you. But we're not a Fighter, we're a Beguiler. We don't have to kill or incapacitate everyone here, just get in, grab our mother, and run for the hills (which we can do indefinitely, because we're undead). The Beguiler class excels in situations like this (Social/Sneaky Nova-ing).

I agree with obtaining more information from the mother before we make any further decisions.

Due to not wanting to "cheat" on point buying by giving no points to CON (as she would later be undead) I gave CON 2 points, so she would at least look healthy.
I don't think talons undead yet copy pasted this from start of adventure post so were gonna be undead very soon but currently were not.
