So, 2 votes for an urbanite necropolitan and 2 for a dragonwrought kobold, huh?

It's rare to find wizard kobolds, they tend to be sorcerers rather than wizards, but anyway... Just know that trying to pull a Pun-Pun will not end well.

Yeah, that's why I crossed out Loredrake and Spellhoarding.

We can still be venerable, right?

No. The whole theme of the game is about being a young man/woman, discovering the world.

Actually, they reach adulthood quite fast, but then they live for slightly longer than humans. They reach middle age at about 60 years old.

Uh...

Maybe we spent a long time studying? Can we just fluff it as mind-steroids given to us at birth?

Seriously, which part of "young adult" are you not getting?
I mean, as I said, the idea is that you are still young and sort of naive (after all, you have not left your mother's side and you are lvl 1). And besides, you just want it for the bonuses. That is powergaming, and that is something I WON'T allow. Doesn't matter how you try to put it.

I have an exam tomorrow. I'll start with the first post and everything once I have finished it and rested. Let's see if there are any more ideas and/or votes.

What if he has Benjamin Button syndrome? What if he ages rapidly (maybe through a curse) and wants to see the world in the few years he has left? Maybe-

Nevermind. I submit to your word as DM. I'm just not used to playing in low-op games.

Do you allow Lesser D'hin'ni (Dragon 350, if I recall correctly)?  They're basically half-halfling and half-genie, from what I remember.

Spoiler: Author's Note (click to show/hide)

Prologue

You can see the full moon above you. You are not used to it. Usually there are buildings and tall towers that prevent you from fully seeing it. Tincodôr was not a nice place to live in, but it sure had some impressive architecture. Now that you are in the woods, outside the city for the first time in your life, and alone... Only now you realize how small the city truly was compare to the world beyond it.

Tincodôr was a centre of commerce long before you were born. For centuries its people, a combination of humans, dwarves and elves, had grown powerful as the masters of commerce between the Eastern Empire of Cipango and the nations of the civilized West. Centuries of warfare in the lands between Cipango and Tincodôr, and the rise and fall of High King Valerios the Forsaken (why he was called that way, you don't know, but he is remembered as a tyrant) ended up crushing trade, and so Tincodôr's glory fade away.

For reasons you ignore, your mother, Alaria Roselia, decided to settle down in Tincodôr shortly after you were born. You grew up without a father, and your mother never told you much about him. In a city where either you were a dwarf or you were blond (elven blood does wonders for your hair), your black hair set you apart from others.

Every now and then someone would visit your mother. Sometimes it was former friends, people that she knew from before your birth. Sometimes it was the neighbours, trying to know something more about your mother. It didn't matter which one it was, your mother would always look nervous, even more if you were in the same room. Apparently there was some sort of accident when you were a baby. Nothing serious, as you are still ok for all you know, but your mother was always quite protective. She taught you magic, and what she didn't teach you, you learnt it on the streets. Being the elephant amongst the other kids in a bad part of a city like Tincodôr teaches you a lot about hiding and getting away without no one seeing you, and your magic helped you with that.

This morning everything changed. You woke up and your mother was packing up things. Only the essentials. You were going to pay a friend of hers (who she told you to call "Uncle Barti") an unscheduled visit. You don't know where he lives, or even if you know him (you never caught the names of the friends that came to visit your mother, you were either too young or too busy), but your mother said that it was a close place. So you grabbed your things and the money you had been saving, kinda curious to see how the outside would be.

And that is when things started going downhill. As soon as you were outside the gates of Tincodôr, you heard an explosion and saw smoke coming from your neighbour. You were about to turn back when your mother grabbed you by the arm and forced you to walk by her side. Since then, no talking for all day. Only walking, and a little stop to eat.

At some point your mother stopped, you thought she was going to tell you to set camp. Sleeping outdoors would be a good experience after the tension from that day. Instead, she told you to run into the forest, and she started to cast a spell. After an arrow almost hit you, you decided to follow her orders. And so you run and run. A few minutes later, you received a magical message. She wanted you to go to King's Crossing, a small village south of there, and meet Uncle Barti. She would be there with you in a few days.

Guess she didn't consider that you could get lost in the forest. You are not sure where the South is, but you believe is already past midnight. You have heard some noises around, but you are not sure whether it could be wild animals, some kind of beast or just a bird. Thank the gods that your sight is very good, as you are able to see almost as good as if there was daylight. They noises you are hearing come from the opposite direction from where you entered the forest (unless you are way more lost than what you think you are).
