If you have weapons better than bronze it's quite possible for you to get lucky and bring down the bronze colossus in one good strike.

it's not uncommon for historical figures to have one or more monsters on their worship list

I did not even know this was possible... This game! Anyway, if they can accept deities I wonder if it's just treated as any other object of veneration and yeah, they do need to pray to them. I can imagine some overseers not wanting to grace awful creatures like that with prayer space.

Meta-game-socio-religious politics confirmed for DF2016.

They said the walls were impregnable. You didn't have to prove me wrong by giving birth on them.

It seems the colossus was busy fighting a yak when my militia captain took it out with no trouble at all.

That yak martyred itself for your fortress; make sure its ultimate sacrifice is represented in numerous masterwork engravings and statues so that it is never forgotten.

It seems to only happen when the same megabeast or titan attacks the same civilization multiple times in worldgen. Some portion of the survivors then begin to worship it.

1. There is something looking like minor bag: dorfs travelling to your fortress without their families, and have bad thinks about it. In my fort i have 11 dwarves that left all their relatives at home. Looks close to old bug with families that were living in separated houses.

I had this great thought about prospecting individuals going off to join parts of the world to see if they can thrive and then sending for their families to join them at your fort once they're established. I've been rewatching Deadwood lately so that's where that thought came from I think.

The military not wearing their equipment is a bug. I reported it on the tracker yesterday and it was set to confirmed status today: http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=9156 so we should be expecting a fix soon-ish.

Hm you do indeed seem to need the book to copy it I haven't seen a dwarf do it from memory. But now my scholars are discussing camera obscura I wasn't aware dwarfs had such knowledge? Also whats the optical engineer and fluid engineer skills do? I can take them from embark but noone seems to learn them in game, I have an astronomer and he likes to think about the moon maybe its related to that

My lead scholar didn't embark with Optical engineer and Fluid engineer, but now is dabbling in both. I'm not sure if he learned them from visiting scholars, or invented the fields independently. I believe that Toady mentioned the knowledge skills won't have practical effects for this release (no telescope inventions, unfortunately.) However, it might have some effect in later releases.

Has anybody successfully gotten their scribes to create copies of works? A scholar who arrived in my first migrant wave has produced a couple works (one scientific, the other autobiographical), and spends a lot of time talking about astronomy with another dwarf scholar, but my assigned scribes seem to ignore the library entirely.

My scribe finally copied a book... I think? On the Location screen, (l), there's a field entitled "Total number of each to scribe." I'm interpreting that as the number of copies of each distinct book you want in that library. If that number is higher than the number of copies you currently have, your scribe might(??) get around to copying them at some point(??).

I bought three copies off a book from a caravan a while ago. I set the total number field to five not long after that. Two seasons later, I now have a fourth copy of the book in the library. I'm preeetty sure my scribe made the fourth one as a copy, but honestly, I can't really be sure? And he's certainly not in any hurry to make a fifth.

The book in question does seem popular with my civ (caravans bring 8 copies...) so it's possible that a migrant brought the fourth copy and my scribes haven't done anything.

It seems that menus (setting tasks in workshops, for example) now always seem to revert to the top of the list after you select something.
Very irritating. Was this an intentional change, or is it a bug? Makes doing anything take a lot longer. :-\

Is anyone else finding that sometimes your not-tame animals are "Distracted"? I noticed my langurs (only the boys mind) are sitting there with a flashing arrow like they're hungry or something, but when I go to the wounds menu it says "Distracted". Do animals have the same needs thing like dwarves do? I haven't had anyone been so needing of things that they end up distracted yet but I imagine that's some kind of warning thing they have now (sort of like the red "Stressed" only not as bad maybe?)
