Both creatures are the same gender, or one has been affected by an interaction/syndrome that renders one of them sterile.

That doesn't seem to be the case though. The two married creatures are of different genders and they aren't affected by any syndromes/interactions that would cause either one to be sterile.

I'm going to check again for the interaction/syndrome aspect though.

Are they actually married, and not just in a relationship? Relationships don't result in children, only marriages do.

There's also the chance of miscarriage. Especially in situations where the mother is starving, dehydrated, or otherwise suffering harm.

Finally, the couple has to actually meet once in a while. Reproduction-via-spores has been gone for a while now.

did you know that transforming a female into a male during pregnancy properly causes a miscarriage and a bad thought? It's true!

They were married, and I removed the transformation interaction that I posted before to see if that had any effect on breeding.

Does body size affect the chances of breeding/marrying?

No, body size does not affect breeding, as far as I know. The only time your creatures' bodies affect breeding is for genetic features in their child; mainly appearance.

Alright, here's a stupid-arse question but.. I honestly still don't know how to do a proper adventurer reaction file that'll create something from nothing. In this case it's spawning my drolth-sword, a whip, a backback and a flask, all of it in my custom take on admantine: Ischronite.

Ah, good thanks! So basically this: [PRODUCT:100:1:WEAPON:ITEM_WEAPON_DROLTH:INORGANIC:ISCHRONITE:NONE]? Now I just need it so that it's a mastercraft each time.

The NONE at the end isn't doing anything.

You can't make it a masterwork each time.

Ah, the 'NONE' at the end is just a leftover from the DF Wanderer mod's raws then, did make me scratch my head though.

Yeah, figured as much so I did what BlackFlyme told me: Produced over a thousand metal helm-caps to boost important skills up to legendary and then did the same for sword, axe and whip skills. Took some time but I think it was worth it as I have my gear and all that without using DFhack or DFtool. Many thanks for fast replies and help! :)

I'mma now rock'n'roll by playing some DF version 0.43.02 with a character I wanted to play as. 8)

And for your help have three heliotrope ischronite drolth-swords meant for good characters, and to quote Gandalf from 'The Hobbit' "You could not wish for a finer blade.":

Should the MAXAGE token affect whether a male and female breed?

I set the female caste and male caste of my creature to have separate max ages, and they wouldn't breed. When I changed it so that they were the same, the male and female caste would breed again.

Creatures will only marry if both are roughly the same age (within ten years or so). If one caste has a significantly longer lifespan then they will spend a high proportion of their life unable to marry, especially as they will not remarry.

Can you use mud or grass as a material, specifically for items?

Can you mod a creature to use an interaction to create an item?

Where I'm going with this is to mod egg-layers to use an interaction to create nest boxes out of grass or mud, in the hopes that this may be an indirect fix to wild egg-layers not reproducing.

Mud and plant matter can be used for items, but interactions cannot create items, and certainly can't build them.

Do random bogeymen have a creature ID or other means to identify them for interactions?  I want to give custom bogeymen an interaction that turns random ones into more custom ones.

...Is there a better way to make all bogeymen be custom ones than this?
