It's customary to suggest gimp in these sort of threads, but given you're doing ..16x16? pixel art with 16 colors, I wouldn't dismiss the utility of Windows 98 MS Paint, let alone how it has been developed nowadays.

Barring that, search for pixel art programs. Tip: If you downscale images, you'll have to re-etch lines to appear more distinct.

I'm going to be basically doing this: Make a basic lizard/dragon man shape, then applying clothes and armour to it as the job requires. Ironhand is 16x16, right? If so that's what I'm working in.

Damn, even though I was just modifying an existing creature, that took some time.



How's that look for a start?

EDIT: Ironhand is 18x18, I made it 16x16 originally. Put some basic clothes on it, and made it a bit more defined.



Now to figure out how to give them weapons/outfits...

This isn't exactly the place for these questions (i offer my apologies if im being percievably snobby, but this is a MODDING rather than a pixelart thread), but you could create a alternate 'soldier tile' for the creature when it it does equip armor, that's a 0.43 modding thing to do

You can try drawing a weapon for each, but using your imagination with a soldier tile lizard-man is recommended generally.

Already migrated my way there, actually getting a lot more progress than I thought I would tonight, gotten most of the workers done... Though the soldiers and nobles will take me a while, as will the undead.

I was actually thinking of having them give me unrefined honey, then use a barrel at the farmers workshop to turn it into a barrel of honey.

Ugh... Okay, need a little help here. Not sure how I can do this.

1: How can I make it so in the custom workshop I'm making, that you could take a giant bee there and scrape it for wax, without killing it like milking a purring maggot?

2: Is this the right way to make them milkable for honey and royal jelly? And how would I add milking them to a workshop?

EDIT: My milking thing was right, it worked fine. Changed the wax to be an extra butchering object. Now to give them to the elves and the Giant Bees are done.

Can't add milking to a workshop, it's not a reaction.

But you can use the existing milking reaction within a farmers workshop restricted burrow to select animals to use. Its good for stopping hordes of animals being dragged at once.

No, we can't. You can add new trap parts and get creative with minecart shotguns...

Ballistic arrows are hardcoded in with no visible additional tokens besides name and class, unlike other ITEM_AMMO types, they do not have a prefixed force/ammo type/damage type (the bolts are also constructed seperately) so no silly blunt platinum one punc(h)ture arrows to be shot at absurd velocity to knock the head clean off a bronze colossus at the equal power of a fluffy wambler in flight. Making full speed platinum minecarts on a roller driven shotgun track look very tame.
