Martijn frowns at the display of magic.

Not quite what I had expected, but I suppose I should have known "30 feet" wasn't just an idle comment. I wish he'd keep that bottled up.

On noticing the hard stare Jehane levels at him, he jumps slightly before hastening to add

Eh...not that...you shouldn't...em...you know.
...
Ah, Desna's Dice!
he curses.

Jehane looks curious "You haven't been too uncomfortable about what I can do, and that could broadly be called divine magic. Does arcane magic frighten you?"

As Arioch is gathering the flowers he answers Jehane.

"Leave him be. Probably got his ass handed to him by some female arcane user trying to touch her ass."

Jehane smirks and creates a wobbling sphere of water over the river, letting it fall and splash out of sight. "Now, the method changes, but any sort of caster is capable of suitable... payback, as needed."

She looks slightly jealous as Arioch works "I would have given a lot to be able to do that when I was younger. Then, of course, She decided to light my room on fire and I got stuck in boot camp instead of unlocking my arcane talents."

I don't think I'd want to tou...
Well, that's beside the point.
He grimaces. I don't like magic, but at least divine casters can be held to blame by their god. To some extent. People like my brother...if they do bad, they can do bad on a scale much greater than the normal person.

He caresses his jewelled dagger as he finishes, but then gives a customary smile. Still, I can't say I mind watching Arioch do all the work for once.

Annoyed, Arioch stops working on the flowers for a bit, backwardly points his finger to Martijn and whispers.

"Want me to throw you overboard, you adulterer?"

Satisfied with whatever reaction Martijn gives behind him, he continues working on the flowers.

"Never got to pursue my talents much either, James. Simple tricks are all I can do. Real magicians can even fight using only their magic. It's why I keep Vorlak and a crossbow by my side."

((And a buttload of summoned Monsters))

You can't really uproot them, but you get more than enough.

Varg tries to stand and he collapses.

"Argh! If my leg wasn't in this state, I would just jump in and get it for you. Sadly, my leg just can't hold me up right now... I don't know if there is any venom or not, but it stings like a hundred tiny burning knives are in my veins..."

Now that you look at him, he looks sicker, but he seems to be holding up quite well.

"I'm not a doctor, but I think we need to get Varg to one as soon as possible. What are the chances the biggest snake around these lands to not be venomous? Let's go back to the cave. The herbalist will sort out the medicine too for Martijn and James. Captain! On the double! It'll be a diplomatic scandal if he dies in our entourage!"

Heh, don't listen to him Varg. You'll not die - we'll be back before you know it, and with any luck you'll even have a few new scars to show the ladies.

Jehane grabs a crewmember "Do you have a healer's kit onboard? If so, bring it over."

She kneels next to Varg and mutters to herself as she inspects the wound and starts looking through her gear "Now is the time I wish I had paid more attention to healer's lessons."

Looking up, she glances around at the others onboard "If anyone has any practical training in the healing arts, feel free to take over. Otherwise, we'll have to see what I can do to help him out until the herbalist can take a look."

Heal checks to help Varg combat the venom.

((Apparently, you can do Heal checks untrained, and failing one won't hurt - won't help either... but hey, it can only (potentially) help))

((Apparently Arioch has a 1 in Heal without being trained in it.))

Arioch goes to help Jehane by casting Guidance on her and himself constantly and doing heal checks himself.

((No one has a healer's kit. Thankfully, it only bestows a +2

It also seems that martijn has the highest heal check skill, with a +2, so I'll use that and assume Ritiki assists))

One of the crew scrambles to the compartment where things are stored and shakes his head.

No one has a healer's kit, but tending to Varg with everyone possible on board. Jehane does most of the work, most of it on assumption, with Ritiki giving her a hand. (14+1+3+1) Varg vomits over the side of the boat as you sloppily siphon most of the venom out of his leg, getting about three three mouthfulls of blood before the blood coming out of his wound stops looking a sickly black. You feel ready to vomit yourself (18+0+1) but you keep it down. You wipe his blood from your mouth, spitting it out constantly. (?) You feel a little light headed after that ordeal.

Varg falls asleep from exhaustion and bloodloss, but he's stabilized.

What do you do now?

"Right. Nice work, James. How about we get back to camp and get your medicine sorted out. Take a rest. Martijn, James, go lie down. Ritiki, would you keep an eye on them? James might have some blood in his system after that in addition to him being sick. Rather worrisome I reckon."

"Aye, I can do that."

"However, am curious as to what Martjin thinks of my own particular brand of magic. This will be good discussion I am sure."
