How do we deal with the wererats?

Scare them into the deeper parts and cave in parts of the cavern, sealing them in
Take out their leaders and try to convince them to surrender
Slaughter them all

Ritiki moves 20 feet west and begins Inspiring Courage!
You begin playing your instrument as you move up. All allies gain a +1 competence bonus to attack and damage rolls!

Varg and Ewan move up but wait for the fire to die down.

Jehane begins her turn.

((btw, the green square is where the fire is spreading))

Jehane moves up to the edge of the fire and uses Create Water to help control the blaze

"This feels a little too familiar for comfort. Either way, once the fire dies down, we can go out and beat whoever was in charge of this little bout of idiocy until even a lycanthrope's regeneration gives out."

Ritiki says nothing as he plays, but the anger in his eyes shows his agreement to that plan.

You do so. You stop the blaze from spreading closer to the party. Smoke rises from the charred bramble.

Arioch begins his turn!

Intimidate

Vorlak helps.
(?) (?) You intimidate the rats but they're more scared of the fire than you.

The fire spreads towards them!

D2 burns up in flames as it catches on it, and it stops struggling.

Mauricio casts create water to douse more flames and keep the fire moving.

The bramble is no longer difficult terrain where the fire was. Guards stand back and light torches.

Martijn begins his turn.

Throw a dagger.
You attempt to throw your dagger at the last dire rat. (FUMLE) Your dagger gets caught on your glove and strikes Mauricio, dealing (4+2) damage! He's down to 2hp as he looks worse for wear.

Kylie moves up and fires an arrow, which strikes true, striking the dire rat but not killing it. It looks worse for wear.

The rat tries to break free. It does so and scurries away.

The party gains 500xp each for this encounter.

Mauricio heals himself for full and controls the fire as it moves up, but it fades after half a minute, the charred bramble receding, leaving only ashes and the burnt corpses of rats and dire rats behind. When the fire finally dies down, you hear a loud mass of squeaking outside.

What does the party do?

Ritiki pipes up. "How many of those grease spells can you do? I can keep lighting fires all night if we battle those rats again."

Martijn picks up all daggers of his he can see, mutters to himself as he searches for a lit torch, then stalks to the entrance, ignoring Ritki. Once in the open slightly, he raises the torch high in order to bathe the area with light. He looks very grim.

Come out where I can see you. You interrupted me in the middle of a romantic watch with a beautiful woman. There'll be hell to pay for this, mark my words.

The torch makes the gems on his dagger gleam and seem like liquid.

We can do this the easy way or the hard way. As an aside, he mutters prayers to Desna and the dice.

((Here's to hoping he's not attacked on sight. Also, I guess that would be an intimidate?))

((Here's to hoping he's not attacked on sight. Also, I guess that would be an intimidate?))
You grab a torch and peek out the rocks blocking the entrance.

By Dresna, that's a lot of rats... You can't tell if you're seeing several swarms or a single sea of rats. There are dire rats amongst them, but not many anymore. You could about 20 square feet of rats, nine dire rats and one unfamiliar wererat in hybrid form.

"If you think I care about your romance, you can take it and shove it up your arse.

I would prefer you come out, to make my job easier. The rest of your vast army? The rats will deal with them. All it takes is one bite, and you're suffering from a sickness called filth fever. I'm not here to kill you; I'm here to spread disease to your people. You will be removed like the plague you will become."

He reaches into a shoddy bag and perfectly hurls it above you, bouncing harmlessly on your shoulder.

A human head rolls in, Kylie gives a shriek in horror. Judging from the way they looked, the head belonged to a man that was amongst the refugees who was native to Jergenholm, as his thick beard, gaunt face and long hair shows his lifestyle. It is not one that you recognize at all, however...

"We found this one east of the marshes as we were stealing from one of the clans. He was killed by tooth and nail alone, and we took his head as a trophy. I will not hesitate to do the same to you.

Lucky you, I am feeling generous tonight. I know you have the one who uses forbidden magic there. I know he started the fire; give him to me, and I will spare you for a night before I come back here. He's proven to be a problem to us, slaying several of our kind with his magic. If you are smart, you will send him out and you will let me have my way with him, and buy yourself some time to go back to where you came from.

I'm going to give you sixty seconds to get him and bring him here or I will send all my forces after you.

Oh. And I know you're looking at me, so you might want to look up."

Doing so, you see the wall has more swarms of rats hanging off of the cliff face, as well as two more dire rats

He starts counting.

TWO...

((Jesus, everybody's out to get Arioch. That bluff seems to be working a bit too well.))

"I'm afraid I'm not that much of a magic user. I reckon I can do it about two more times. Does anybody else have oil or a means of combating large swarms? I'm not too worried about the big rats. It's the little ones that can cause problems. Once we take care of them we can immediately charge whoever is in charge of this fiasco. I'd appreciate it if he was taken alive though."

"I have some flammable oil, but that's it as far as fighting swarms. Best I can maybe do is try to get them to leave, but that's not likely."

You detect no magic on the swarms. Going off of that, you judge it to be rats tamed for this
