How do we deal with the wererats?

Scare them into the deeper parts and cave in parts of the cavern, sealing them in
Take out their leaders and try to convince them to surrender

((As far as I could tell, energy damage - fire, cold, electricity, force, etc will go through. Physical damage - slashing, piercing or crushing goes up against the 10/silver DR unless silver, mithril or +3 enchanted or better.))

((Ugh, so much for the attack spell. It has a mythic variant which bypasses all damage reduction, but I have no idea how to get that.
Guess we'll be tossing oil on weres and lighting them on fire!))

Martijn looks at the daggers Ritki has with curiosity, and asks if he can have some. Eyeing the strange stone, he wonders aloud what material it is.

Looking around, Kylie (?) mentions there doesn't seem to be much in terms of tracks up here. Looking off the cliffsides (14+4) (19+6) (?) Mauricio spots what looks like a familiar ship very far out at sea. However, the sails look damaged, but it is still heading towards the coastline. However, looking at it, it seems that if they don't use their oars and continue, they will crash into the cliff.

Mauricio notices the ship and turns to his comrades. "Are my eyes deceiving me? It appears that another vessel of our fleet has survived to reach these shores!" He points out the ship to James and Kyile, or at least tries his best to. "They appear to be heading straight for the cliffs. Perhaps they don't see it, or everyone onboard is incapacitated? We should go and inform them of the danger at once! It would be a terrible shame if they had survived this perilous journey just to be dashed upon these rocks." Mauricio turns to Kyile and gives her a bow. "It hurts my conscious to ask for such a task of your noble bird, but the situation could be dire. Would it be possible to drop a message onto the boat with his assistance? It is the first idea that has leapt into my mind to avert this possible tragedy. If not, I will surely be able to think of another one."

((Two for Martijn since he specializes in them and two for Ritiki. One for Arioch will be all that's necessary I think.))

Arioch approaches Bjern, ignoring the indignity he was put in.

"I won't pry if you wish it to be so, however may I ask what caused this feud between your two clans? I got the impression that the Red-Moon clan doesn't know exactly the cause of these hostilities.

With that said is there something your people are troubled with?"

((Changed Borg's text because of how hard it is to look at))
(15+12 (10+4)+3) Bjern and Borg look at each other and then Borg nods towards what you assume to be his house.

"Perhaps it is best we sit down and talk. You must be hungry as well, and I assure you, my wife will be perfectly fine with having two guests with us."

He hobbles towards his home, but on his fifth step, Bjern helps his father walk by being a human crutch.

His house is a little larger than the others, having two beds of the same size. They also have a small fireplace made of clay and dirt inside. There is a wall that shows several heads of different animals, though several seem to be bears.

"Well... As you guessed, my father was the Chief before Gorm took over. My father took over his brother's place when he was mortally wounded by a Red-Moon, and his dying wish was his son, Gorm, to become a great Chief when he is ready.

Gorm succeeded the trials several months ago and took over, and ever since, he has hated the Red-Moon clan. But all of us excluding him knew that the one who killed his father was either an outlaw or a traitor to his clan. The Red-Moons never bothered us, and we never bothered them. We had no real agreement with them, but we had a mutual respect between each other. We had the same ideals and the same code of honor, and when things turned rough, sometimes we would join them in their hunts, and they would do the same in turn.

When Gorm came to power, his first decree was to hunt down the outlaw. And he believes they reside with the Red-Moons. Many of us believe he died or joined with the Night-Stalkers. Most outlaws end up either with them or eaten by the White-Fan-."

He snorts and then spits before coughing heavily and spitting again.

"You will have to forgive my son; after he manifested his inner powers, he had a nasty incident which made him breathe in a large amount of dirt and dust.

Gorm is quite honorable, but he is very wary of outsiders. And since his father's killer was in hybrid form, he does not know for sure what his killer looked like save for the color of the fur and a mark his father left on him. A large gash in his chest that would fell most. It is why many think he died of his wounds.

We normally don't see people here, so you can understand why our people would be wary of you. We tend to intimidate most of our enemies off with our sheer size. We are one of the eldest clans to be here as well, so we have gained respect as well. Even Night-Stalkers think twice before attacking us head on. We aren't warriors, we're more carpenters and woodcutters, but our strength is great. We will fight when need be, and we will send those pups running back easily."

Ewan nods listening and then speaks up.

"Is there any way to prove that the Red-Moon outlaw you speak of no longer resides in their village?"

Borg shakes his head.

"I'm afraid there isn't much. I hope that during the Moot that he listens to the rest of us. He is Chief, but the others still have a collective say. When we meet with the Red-Moon clan, I hope they can find proof the outlaw is not with them..."

"I understand the situation between your two clans now. It would be wise for us to go inform the Red-Moon clan of what has transpired and see if there is any possibility of proof. People dying over a misunderstanding is a tragic thing.

However the Red-Moons do agree with you on one thing for certain though. The Night-Stalkers must be brought to heel.

Might I inquire as to the color of the fur of the attacker? I imagine the Red-Moons will know who it was by that.

My clan will be present during the moot as a mediator and participant, likely by the people you see before you. Hostilities by the three factions will not be permitted, though I am confident it will not come to that. I do wish to say that I am grateful you have been so understanding.

Now, I wish to show you a bit of the technological advancement from across the ocean. Martijn, would you please?"

After all is done and said, unless there is something else to be discussed or said, the party goes back to the Red-Moon clan.

((Once we get the White-Fangs on board and we've settled down it's likely that we'll be exterminating the Night-Stalkers. Let's hope we can either produce some real silver weapons or find a way to combat them without relying on our allies that much. They seem to be a warrior culture and showing off our strength can only do good.))

Borg ponders for a moment, stroking his beard.

"I believe it was white and grey. Red-Moons look like timber wolves, as do a few other clans. We know it was a Red-Moon because they all have a mark on them that they choose when they come of age. It is a crescent moon made of scar tissue, and the outlaw had his on his side, just under his ribcage.

The Moot between us tonight will remain with the clan. The Moot with the Red-Moons and yourselves, I expect it to be such."

Martijn pulls out the dagger and the sparkle of the clean blade catches his eye, which widens with surprise and amazement.

"I see... This is what the stories meant when they came after us with stone that shone with the sun. I see that your kind from across the sea bring great power with them in not only their tools, but their prowess with magic.

I will bring this up at the Moot tonight with Gorm."

A tall woman walks in, and after a hushed chat with Borg, she starts to prepare some meat that she brought in over the fireplace.

"I must ask you... What clans do you know of in these lands? And where does your clan reside?"

"As it is we have encountered your clan, the Red-Moon and a tribe of lizardmen which we hope will not be too hostile after we gave them a gesture of our good will. We have knowledge of the Night-Stalkers and after the moot will be likely to go talk to the White-Fangs. So far those are the ones we know of, though it is doubtful this is all of them.

We do not have a permanent location right now. It has been a rough few days, however if everything goes proper we should have established ourselves in the surrounding areas by next week.

Ritiki here,"

Arioch gestures at the ratman.

"is our trader. I imagine it would be most beneficial for all parties for trade to start happening. Of course you can discuss the details with him.

Might I ask if there is anything we might've missed? These lands seem to be large and it wouldn't surprise me if it were so."

The two look at each other with shocked and confused looks.

"The Lizardmen? But... They're hostile to everyone? They're the only ones other than the ones with the form of a rat that have unified into a much larger force. They're ferocious and almost as bad as the Night-Stalkers. The only reason why they aren't a problem is because they stick to their territory."

Borg puts his hand on his son's shoulder.

"Calm down, Bjern.

Like Bjern was saying, we know of lizardfolk who are very brutal. They reside underground and come out raiding or hunting sometimes.

As for the White-Fangs, we have heard only stories of them. I do not think they can be reasoned with if they are true.

As for other clans around here, there are the Grey-Tails, one of the more numerous clans. Then there is the White-Mane clan, who are solitary farmers, and their allies, the Black-Tooth clan. Both take the form of wolves. Going more inland towards the plains are the Dark-Snout clan, who take the form of boars. They're quite hostile but only to those who enter their lands. Lastly, there is a clan that takes the same form as us who are perhaps one of the first clans to arrive here, as they seem to be the only clan that knows about The Hermit and has met him."

"The lizardfolk are hostile? That is a shame. We came across two of them and after disarming them and interrogating them send them on their way. I did offer them to send an ambassador, however with what you've said I doubt that will happen.

The clans are more numerous than I thought, however it seems that they are diverse in their applied skills.

Who is this Hermit you speak of?"

"That is strange... They normally would fight even without weapons... Some don't even use weapons. Perhaps you have seen a different group of lizardfolk?"

"There are many more clans in the area. But many are isolated, as this continent is rather large.

I forgot; you came from across the ocean.

The Hermit is a man who was here long before anyone else was. When the first people who came here arrived, he helped them and aided them. He wasn't a lycanthrope and he looked like a normal human. You could understand how startling he was to our ancestors when they fled and he was so willing to help.

He had this strange method of living, but I don't know much about it. He was descried as a simple looking man with a simple lifestyle, but he held great power. They say in the legend that there was a great monster that rose from the ground and went to attack the people, but The Hermit just stood there and watched as the monster, five times larger than he, roared in his face. No attack harmed him, and when he struck with his fist, the monster was vanquished instantly, so much so as the body was nothing but red mist. When our ancestors asked if he was a god, he denied that he was a divine being, and was only but a man. He left after some time helping our ancestors, and every year, they have a holiday dedicated to thanking him, though he has only returned once, but after many generations passed and only to the ancestors of those who came first. We haven't heard or seen of him in hundred's of years... But it was hundreds of years when they saw him a second time."

Arioch looks worriedly at the party.

"That is interesting indeed. We may look into it in the future. For now I think it is time went and notified the -Moon clan of what has transpired, unless there is sonething more to be discussed."
