Arioch's eyes immediately narrow and he makes a step back, his hands going to his sides in case he needs to pull out the dagger.

"Really now, mates. I would suggest you not do that. I might not look the part, however I do assure you that even if there were twice your numbers right now you'd stand not a chance."

Arioch throws a glance at Ritiki without moving his head.

"You know, friend, I've always had a penchant for rat meat."

His eyes turn towards the advancing dire rats once more, bares his teeth and mutters  something almost inaudible under his breath.

"Mage Armor on Vorlak"

Intimidate Check!
Considering Vorlak is still in hiding, you prepare your spell for when he comes out. The magic makes a display from your hands, and the humans stop dead in their tracks. (14+5+2) vs. (?) (?) (?) They are scared of you.

The one with the dagger speaks up

"That one has the forbidden magic!"

"Not helping" the ratman growled to Arioch under his breath. He then spoke louder, to the approaching natives. "It's simple, friends. We were not the first to cross the sea and we will certainly not be last. Some of those who come will gladly kill everyone in this land to take it for themselves. Not even your incredible power will be able to stand against them if you choose to stand alone.

"Instead, we will have to work together. We have already gotten the Red Moons and the Earth Movers to agree to a moot, and should the gods smile upon that meeting we will all become more powerful. If more of the beastmen tribes come together we will be able to face any foe. If your people wish to join us and perhaps find a better life, this is your best opportunity to do so."

(5+2) (Diplomacy) vs (?) (?) (?) ((I swear you had a higher diplomacy...)) They're more terrified of Arioch but you get your message across.

"The Red-Moons and the Earth-Movers? We never heard of them. We are content with our life, but..."

He looks at Arioch.

"... I don't think we can deal with the forbidden magic."

MEANWHILE....
Vorlak and Martijn move in close enough and stay out of sight. They see Arioch preparing a spell, though neither of you have any idea what it is, but Vorlak knows the target is himself, and he leans down, ready to sprint if need be.

Varg moves on ahead as Ewan grabs your headband and gives it to you before putting his finger to his lips to tell you to quiet down. He motions you to step in his footprints to avoid making too much noise.

Arioch smiles at them and waves his hands nonchalantly above his head.

"Look. I have nothing against you guys, but as you might imagine people generally don't take well to threats. From either side. Just listen to what the kid has to say and think hard. If you want blood to be spilled, it shall be so. If you want negotiations to begin between our two people, that works too."

Arioch's face suddenly grows cold and a wave of fear emanates from his dark blue eyes. In fact you could swear they were chromatically changing color. In the end you decide it was just your mind playing tricks, but the 'what if' lingers in your mind. This was only heightened by the fact that they were as wide open as they could possibly be.

"If you choose the peaceful path then negotiations with your leader or whoever he sends will be done here, on neutral ground. I trust you understand why."

After a few moments of Arioch staring them down, his demeanour calms down and warmth returns to his eyes. He gives a light hearted smile again.

"Oh and the rat meat thing? That was a joke. Haha."

The one with the sword looks to the others, says something in a tongue that Ritiki can understand to the other two, and then nods with the other two.

Spoiler: Goblin (click to show/hide)

"Well, Ritcher, haul ass!"

The one with the dagger starts walking towards the cave, keeping an eye on Arioch and his readied spell. The one who's been mostly talking shouts at him in a different tongue

Spoiler: Goblin (click to show/hide)

He smiles as the one walking away quickens his pace. He has strange looking teeth that indeed look more rodentlike.

"Always gotta tell him to pick up the pace. You know how it is, don't you?"

Martijn sees the dire rats starting to trying to circle around now. You spot Varg circling around farther, more behind them, axe in hand. Ewan and James are still back more, but slowly getting there ((70ft away now)) (12-2) (?) They hear light rustling, but they ignore it, focusing on Arioch.

"Oh, of course. Time is money, as we say back home."

Ritiki smiles back at the wererats, attempting to speak quietly to Arioch without visibly moving his mouth. He also casually lowers his hand towards the hilt of his sword, though he doesn't grip it yet. ((guessing that would be Bluff? Maybe?))

(17+11) ((Good lord, that stealth modifier...)) (Stealth) (11+9) (Sleight of hand) They don't notice a thing. As you speak to Arioch, the one speaking takes a couple steps forward.

"So... Across the sea? So you came where our ancestors were ousted from?"

Arioch sighs in disappointment.

"You know, they call me a linguist back at home. Being an ambassador did require such a job requirement. Did you think you could lie to me?"

He takes a deep breath and lets out the greatest shout he can muster.

"The name of Vorlak will strike you for this lie, deceiver."

Start whispering Summon Creature after Mage Armor is cast.

((But now they can claim that we made the first aggressive move, by shouting and casting spells. Anyone who doesn't speak Goblin and/or couldn't hear them will only see you acting suddenly.

The fact that you previously threatened them actually makes it worse. Now we're the aggressive irrational invaders and it will be a lot harder to convince other clans that we want to coexist.))

He takes a deep breath and lets out the greatest shout he can muster.

"The name of Vorlak will strike you for this lie, deceiver."

Start whispering Summon Creature after Mage Armor is cast.

Vorlak races to your side and you cast mage armor on him and he strikes at the one who talks by pouncing on him! (18+2) (16+2-2) (CRIT) Vorlak strikes him with his bite and his claws, one of which tears into his throat, blood splattering across his white fur. He deals (6+6)+(2+6)+((4+6)*2) damage! Despite the very devastating attack, he's still standing, though he looks very badly wounded.

Varg, at this, comes out and swings his axe at the other one, roaring at the top of his lungs as he is now in hybrid form and swings his axe, cutting deep into them. It lets out a screech as his flesh burns from the raw silver cutting into him. His hybrid form is VERY intimidating, and you clearly see that his Red-Moon brand is on his hand as he lets out a roar at his enemy.

((COMBAT BEGINS!))
Ewan starts moving up, but doesn't get far enough, moving 20ft away from the nearest enemy (the dire rat)

Ritiki begins his turn! (you have a surprise round)

Ritiki takes a 5-ft-step to the tile south of Arioch and Summons a violin!

((Calm down, Ritiki. All the clans already see the ratmen as hostile as Varg said and we even have him here to bear witness, even if he doesn't know Goblin. These ratmen don't even know of the other clans. And if they're dead nobody can talk. Besides, Arioch is morally gray, not stupid good like Martijn.

Let's just admit it. You're disappointed because they're ratmen. It's just a coincidence and we need that mine as ours to have defense against the clans. We couldn't even make the wererats mine it for us and I doubt they'd pack up and leave.))

((I seriously doubt that we're going to leave survivors after this. And I'm not surprised at all that arcane casters are 'forbidden' given that they'd have a far easier access to energy damage to kill others in a were society. Divine casters at least have to get some decent levels in before they can start throwing out things like Flamestrike.

Also, apiks, are you using Summon Monster the spell, or the class ability? Because the class ability will make Vorlak disappear if I'm reading it correctly.))
