Help his checks.
(12+4 (8+3) +3) The only things you notice are there are a few herbs every now and then that could possibly be used for alchemy. ((I'm gonna say its a survival check, not perception)) (5+0+1 (3+1)) you guess there are some small game from what you actually see? Maybe?
While Ritiki and Arioch look around for plants and animals, James takes a look at the edge of the river for signs of flooding or anything else that would explain why the edge appears strange.
"I'm wondering if it is natural that the water is running this much lower then the river bank. If it's seasonal, we might have to build with flooding in mind. Otherwise, maybe there are giant beavers damming the river upstream. Either way, logging up stream is as easy as floating the logs downstream tied together as a raft. Mining depends more on where we find metals."
(16+1) You aren't well versed enough to really tell, but considering the marsh's water level and how the walls of the riverbank look very dry and still kind of rough, you guess that the river used to be higher up, but for some reason, probably a long time ago, that it lowered, possibly even gradually, which caused the marsh to be birthed from the lower water levels.

(16+6) You notice along the treeline are some figures that you can't really see. They're shorter, but they seem to sneak around through the trees, watching you
