I want to integrate visitors into my fort.

I will have the foreign legion, filled with elves and such. They must prove themselves in combat before they are allowed to occupy the same space as the dwarves.
This will make setting up arenas for the amusement of your dorfs/other visitors much easier.

Can't wait for the inevitable "demon lawmaker visits fortress, becomes citizen" bug.

I'm mostly excited about the libraries stuffed with books. I've always had a weakness for volcanoes, so I think that would be where I will stick my new & shiny Library, complete with a temple dedicated to every branch of knowledge. Then I could hook up something so that if my fortress is on the falling point due to a siege, I can release the magma in order to ensure that no precious Dwarven secrets survive to fall into enemy hands!
Then there's the animal people! so many possibilities to play as and do in both adventure and fortress mode!
Nothing is going to bring me more joy than running around as a little Jumping Spider man, capable of wielding six different weapons at the same time!  :D
...Though, judging by the raws, spider-men are smaller than dwarves but bigger than kobolds, so weight would be an issue...do they even have feet? If no, then yay, eight weapons, but then would I be always crawling or simply be awkwardly standing on hands? I don't even think they have tongues, so are they mute as well?  ::) So many questions emerging!
...Or I could be something that flies. Or with horns. I feel like it would be satisfying to gouge someone. Plus if you broke one off, you'd look all the more Heavy Metal.

Heading to a different tangent, who do you think will be brave enough to test the raw power of snail-men recruits, or a hoard of sponge-men defenders? I'm curious to see the results!

I'm looking forward to customizable adventurer appearances and elephant seal man shock troops.

Also vampire visitors, nondwarf slums, shrines to the gods, and trying to poison mountain gnomes with gnomeblight.

First, here is this; https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/to?iso=20151201T1204&p0=234&msg=Dwarf+Fortress+Release&font=cursive
Second, I am most excited for self-referential poems; A four-piece sonnet describing the trials and tribulations of creating the sonnet.

Can't wait for the inevitable "*clown* lawmaker visits fortress, becomes citizen" bug.

I can already imagine the announcements

I'm kind of just hyped for all of it, PARTICULARLY the less crashes hope. I'll even disable DFhack if I have to, I just want my less crashes \o\

The having people ask to become members of your fort though is probably my number 1 want, because that kind of sounds amazing.

I just had a "lord consort" visit and decide to stay. Preparing for Trojan war reenactment.
Protip: statues cannot be made out of wood unless they're artifacts. If you see what appears to be a wooden statue outside your fort and it's not an artifact, destroy it immediately.

I'm going to make some shrines! These are just some gods I ripped out of one of my saves.

the dwarf deity Adil the Auburn Gorge (mountains, caverns, jewels, minerals) - Shrine is in the gem stockpile, guarded by a tame dragon.
the dwarf deity Rovod Brasscastle the Turquoise Helms (metals, crafts) - Shrine is in the trade goods stockpile, guarded by weapon traps.
the dwarf deity Kadol the Luxurious Gold of Silver (wealth) - Shrine is in the artifact stockpile, guarded by a rotation of elite soldiers.
the dwarf deity Dishmab (fortresses) - Shrine overlooks the main gate, guarded by marksdwarves.
the dwarf deity Kivish (coasts, lakes, revenge) - Shrine is on the shore of a cavern lake, which also houses the fort's prisons. Guarded by the captain of the guard and a few more soldiers.
the dwarf deity Minran the Nettle of Fears (torture, misery) - Shrine is deep underground, near the magma sea. Captives are dropped onto spikes, and are tossed into the magma if they live. This shrine needs no guards.
the dwarf deity Shin Lightwhite the Lilac of Twinkling (light) - Shrine is somewhere on the surface away from the fort, guarded by cage traps.

the bird falcon peregrine deity Emuth Towercopper (earth, mountains) - Shrine is at the top of a high tower, guarded by tame giant birds.
the dwarf deity Nadak the Escort of Searching (jewels, fortresses) - Shrine is in the artifact vault, which is also in a tower. It is guarded by gates, chained beasts, and sheer inaccessibility.
the dwarf deity Tunur Playgilds (wealth, speech) - Shrine is over top of the trade depot, and is guarded by a rotation of elite warriors.
the dwarf deity Iltang (misery) - Shrine is in hell, protected by walls.
the dwarf deity Stegeth Helmvised the Gleeful Webs (justice, laws, order, discipline, loyalty) - Shrine is in the fort's jails, which also contain the noble's rooms.
the dwarf deity Osed (theft) - Shrine is on the surface away from the fort. Food and valuable metal crafts are left unguarded.
the bird swallow cave deity Odur the Beard of Periwinkles (animals) - Shrine is in the fort's animal pens and contains all kinds of exotic animals.
the dwarf deity Olnen Focuslesson (scholarship, wisdom) - Shrine is the fort's libraries.
the dwarf deity Bobrur the Wonder of Libraries (persuasion, poetry, inspiration, painting, strength) - Shit, I dunno. There are too many gods with similar spheres in this pantheon. Maybe in a massive, engraved statue hall?

How about some human ones too?

the human deity Githa (revelry) - Shrine is in a public square. Many festivals take place there.
the human deity Durpul (oaths, laws) - Shrine is in the capitol, in front of the law-giver's castle. It reminds him that he is a servant of the people.
the human deity Jeha (fertility, lakes, oceans, fish, rivers) - Shrine is on a remote piece of seashore. Fishermen bring gifts, praying for good hauls.
the human deity Gogol (suicide) - Shrine is at the bottom of a huge, impassable ravine. The only way down is to jump (Or take the secret paths, known only to the Monks of Gogul...)
the human deity Nifih (children, pregnancy) - Shrine is in the best hospital in the country. Women travel from all over to give birth there.

the human deity Bikda Mazetwilights (night, dreams) - The shrine lies deep in a forgotten grove. The only travelers that visit now are the animals.
the human deity Shodec Glimmerlaw (loyalty, oaths, marriage, birth) - This shrine, more of a church, used to hold grand weddings. Now it lies empty and broken.
the human deity Sasmcith (deformity, disease, blight, death, suicide) - Below this shrine sit catacombs, now empty but for the rats.
the human deity Kar the Power of Veils (rumors, fame) - Ironically, the famous titan Disa destroyed this shrine first.
the human deity Abli (earth) - The cave this shrine lay in has collapsed.
the human deity Mete the Seer of Fogs (mist) - The lighthouse that housed this shrine has gone dark.
the human deity Thruni the Brightnesses of Insight (poetry, inspiration, painting) - This shrine's canvasses are torn, its engravings shattered, its artists stilled.

This civilization was destroyed in 7 by the titan Disa Soakedbucks the Clod of Water.

That's actually a good question, does the game prevent "deities" from visiting taverns and applying for citizenship? Assuming that it doesn't, things could get rather interesting. Imagine a mayor that the citizens of a fort literally worship.

Don't Necromancers have 'opposed to life' tag?  I would think that would make then count as a non-civilization creature, and thus unable to join.
