What's a good way to punish a dwarf?
« on: November 27, 2015, 09:45:44 pm »

So I've got this engieer who has done absolutely nothing for an entire season now. It has been a combination of attending parties, breaks, eating, sleeping, and drinking, so now I want to ruin his life. Ideas?

An advanced military training program, throwing him in at the highest level?

I raise a bridge and lower it on dwarves that make me angry. Specially vampires. Just dont forget to engrave a slab for him later.

Use a retracting drawbridge that will drop him 2 z-levels to plunk down directly next to your hospital, and use him to train your doctors.

This. Use a disposable dwarf for something useful!

Yep, this is obviously the best idea.

give him 2 of your best weapons and send him out in a squad of his own naked against the next attack on the fort.

Also, if you ever figure out why poets/bards/dancers just randomly start butchering people/getting butchered, please don't fix it, I love never knowing when a dance party will turn into a slaughter.

Since he seems to prefer doing frivolous activities rather than his work, take him to the circus. Make him sick of all the fun he's been having. That'll straighten him out.

Lock him in a room with raw plump helmets, a well and a pump that isn't hooked up to anything. Have him pump non-stop until he becomes a Legendary Pump Operator. At this point, he has obtained iron discipline and can be re-integrated into the workforce.

He should headline in the next Arena battle. If he wins he may have a promising career as a gladiator!

I also agree with the idea of using him as a canary. I once tore a particularly troublesome Vampire's arms and teeth out then sent her into the caverns ahead of the army. She lived a fairly long and humiliating unlife until a giant gas-breathing crab killed her.Thats what you get for killing a legendary engraver in my fort >:(

Entomb him in a section of mine near the caverns with a pickaxe and a source of water. He must survive only on non-alcoholic water and vermin. His task is to produce 50 masterwork mechanisms (or give him an axe and produce ballista parts if you prefer). Only then, and on the additional condition that he is still sane, is he allowed to re-enter society.
