Happy 10th Birthday, Stumpy Wumples!
« on: November 24, 2015, 11:46:51 pm »

Stumpy-wumples

November, 2005: A gaming titan is unleashed upon the world.

Neopets: The Darkest Faerie

Additionally, No More Stumpy-Wumples became available. Although it is a sub-game, it is definitely not about submarines. Some time this month, No More Stumpy-Wumples turns ten years old, proving once and for all that you are an unmitigated fossil. The young people play their music too loud, and in your day, there were only (x) Pokemon. Alternatively, I was stumping wumples when you were hardly a gleam in your daddy's eye.

I've played them all now. I'd like to go back to who I was an hour and fifteen minutes ago, when I was ignorant of these games.

There's a warning for a reason, man.

Cross Stompers (Posted March 2003)

I enjoyed reading that for some reason.

In less than a year and a half, Cross Stompers will be turning 15. How's that make you feel? It's almost old enough to drive in its birth country.

I shouldn't, but I will:

I think it was here in the 'other games' forum, someone was discussing the merits of free expression and how his particular rape-murder-genocide fantasy was harmless fun.  Mabye he was a Taleworlds moderator or something, I'm not sure.

I expressed my opinion that games like 'stumpy wumples' were important and deserved to exist, and they called attention to horrible things through satire (much like Charlie Hebdo for a more recent perspective, or a Holocaust museum for an older perspective) but actually engaging in simulated atrocities for the titillating enjoyment one might gain from the act was probably not something anyone should be proud about.

It was then explained to me how my totalitarian thought-control anti-free-speech views represented everything that was wrong with the Internet.

Besides the "subgames" there are also a few in "curses arcade"  http://www.bay12games.com/curses/

Kosovo Karnage was a Three Toe project, I'm not sure if he wrote any of the others.

Amusingly, some dude posted in 2007 that he lived near Kosovo and was not aware of any sort of conflict in that area.  I guess he never asked what the red resin splotches on the streets of Sarajevo were meant to commemorate, or why people tossed flowers on them.
