(I actually like how there's no rolls visible in this RTD. it makes it much more story like. also, are you keeping the inventories somewhere? you should probably post them at the end of the turn. helps people collaborate and makes it easier for readers.)

Thanks, that would probably be a pretty good idea.

what happened to the fourth person?

ah, I see that you changed Shaman to Alchemist. I like alchemists. I'd probably be one of those X3

((Thought I had posted, sorry.))

Heckle the leopard from a distance. Hope I get my razor back.

"Not yet... There is still more to discover!"

Shove the leopard off of my chest and bash its head in.
Butcher! Make a new coat to wear on top of my coat!
((Thought I had posted, sorry.))

Heckle the leopard from a distance. Hope I get my razor back.
Heckle as in curse? Or demoralise? You yell insults at it, in what you hope is a sufficiently leopardy accent.

The leopard strains downwards, saliva running down Sam's arms as he forces its jaws away from his face, agonizingly pushing it away, his hands round its swollen canines, fingers trapped under its muddy gums. Excruciating seconds pass, his strength almost failing, the animal's weight nearly snapping his joints, as Mia swings her arm back, waits with the knife poised at the highest point of an arc for an instant, then plunges the blade downwards, the leopard crumpling as she stabs the back of the neck.

The animal folds, its camoflauged coat splattered with mud as it rolls off Sam's side, and lies dead on the muddy ground. A silver coin, wide as his thumb, appears in Kahn's pocket as he approaches the animal; upon inspection, the words "Soul of a Subtle Leopard" are written on the side. It bears an image of the snarling head of the beast.

A few figures approach, just visible, from the hill, splashing though the mud, heading for the source of the ripples. The two muddied people remark that they don't seem to be local, indeed all the inhabitants of the bog except the two proud victors have abandoned their political messages and fled the conflict.

The figures haven't seen you yet, visibility being poor as it is.

"Yes! Now to see what it's made of!"

Dissect, see if the thing was weird in any way. Remove a few claws and teeth as trophies.

"Ugh... So disgusting..."

Clean off the saliva and blood, and check to see if Steve is O.K. Then, assist with the looting and pocket the leopard's incisors. Inspect the coin, if I'm allowed, and touch it to the orb.

So. Sorry I didn't/"couldn't" update for a bit there, festivities, internet, long walks, all that. Back to normal. Also figured out the combat system a bit better, people will die and kill a bit faster, hopefully. Anyway, on with the show.

"Interesting..."

Examine the coin.
Probably silver, though the material is a little off. It shows nothing but the leopard's head on one side, the writing on the edge, and a complex twining pattern on the back. It is however, fairly unostentatious, seeming more involved in being than representing anything. You get the sense that the coin could be used in a very literal exchange for power of one kind or another. It also seems to want to stay in your "pocket" the one you can always put your hand in but can't quite locate.

"Yes! Now to see what it's made of!"

Dissect, see if the thing was weird in any way. Remove a few claws and teeth as trophies.
You slice the leopard down the middle, across the belly and though the neck for good measure. The thing has a lot of mud in its throat, and a few very sharp, small incisions in the legs which you're pretty sure you didn't make. You get some claws and teeth alright.

"Ugh... So disgusting..."

Clean off the saliva and blood, and check to see if Steve is O.K. Then, assist with the looting and pocket the leopard's incisors. Inspect the coin, if I'm allowed, and touch it to the orb.
Steve is perky as ever, and vigilant scrubbing replaces any leopard blood splatters with healthy mud.

Touching the coin to the orb... well, you can't really touch the coin. You can shove it about on Kahn's hand with your fingers, but any attempts to take it from him either fail or end with it back in his pocket, even if he tries to put it in your hand. The hard-to-grasp (to you) nature of the object suggests that it may be composed of something other than the directly physical. It feels fairly important, though.

Touching the orb to the coin makes Kahn shiver with an almost imperceptible, tiny shock, but does nothing else.

Three figures are approaching, looking for the source of the ripples, walking towards you from the hill or barrow which, circled by trees, seemingly sits in the centre of the bog. There is ample cover of gorse, muddy ditches, and water to evade them, hide, or prepare an ambush. Sam claims that they feel they've nothing to hide, but notes that they think violent thoughts - military men, used to and prepared for battle, most likely.

Rub the coin between my fingers. Flip it. Lick it. Poke someone with it. Maybe throw it at somebody's head. See if anything happens.

If all else fails, touch it first to the cloth, and then to the ring. Hope I don't explode, or anything like that.

"Hello, there! We were just attacked by a leopard! Do you know where it could have come from? This doesn't seem to be its natural habitat."

Channel "Calm" through the orb.

Nothing happens. Nope. Nothing. No. It comes back to you. No luck in thses experiments. The coin slots into the cloth nicely, and you realise that it seems to end up there, whenever it enters your pocket, which it invariably does.

You touch it to the ring, and, with a metallic jingle, it winks out of existence. You feel a rush of power, through you and the wrist-sized ring or bangle. The fog and dust in the air seem to condense and wrap themselves around the ring, patches of shadow dragging themselves towards it. The smog thickens and darkens, almost concealing you.

The orb doesn't do anything at all.

Three men approach, wearing military looking, imperial muddy brown uniform, practical but with a hint of the parade ground to the brass buckles and buttons on their jackets and belts. One is clearly an officer, his tightly buttoned garb and unadorned helmet looking purpler and somehow cleaner than those of the other two. The footsoldiers carry toothy morningstars awkwardly, each spike tinged oddly yellow, as if unused to hefting them. Indentical swords hang at their sides, their civilisation clearly learning the principles of mass manufacture.

A gnarled oak bow, seemingly of inferior quality to his men's weapons, is strapped to the officer's back, with a quiver full of blunt looking arrows beside it. He also wears a rapier and carries a pouch ful of gourd-shpaed objects at the hip.

They respond to your cries with an affable shout of, "We're Church of the Abyssal Conception men! Fringefolk, right?", "We've been looking for you!", "So you'll see sense and come with us?", and "You just didn't hear the call, that's it?"

Before you can respond, as they come within twenty yards, the officer throws his arms back, and his men stop behind him. He hastily tosses the pouch to one of the soldiers, who pulls at the drawstring furiously, and begins to string and aim the bow, apparently at one of the men made of mud.

"Changelings! Inhumans are with them! Get back!"

The two swamp folk had been sheepishly trying to edge away and out of sight, and suddenly look terrified.
