A good tea is promptly quaffed, as you begin to relax- but no. A media storm is incoming, and you must be ready. You finish your tea, get to your feet, and assemble your underlings.
"Well, I suppose it could of gone far worse. The bunker looks decent enough for the media frenzy, and we still have a chance of going about our buisness without starting a riot.
Researcher, I apologize for blowing up at you back there. Too many things going wrong at one time. We're not out of the woods yet, however. We both need to reherse for the public so that the coverup goes smoothly. The same goes for any personal that were at the scene, since they'll inevitably be questioned as well.
Agents, the situation is not quite in hand yet. I need that SCP nabbed and cleaned up. Be sure to go "in costume" since it is supposedly a toxic waste dump. Take half a team of grunts with you.
The rest of you, excellent work on the bunker, We might have a chance of weathering this out. In the meantime, i need you all to start designing and drafting some general purpose buildings, since we will need to expand out once the anomaly arrives.
The clock is ticking, gentlemen. Let's make them at least think we know what we are doing!"
((The first thing I think when I read this is could
have, not could of. But whatever.))
(6) And with that, your minions swarm and begin to rehearse like mad. You join in, finding the ease- it's working. Eventually, the rehearsal becomes less general and what about what to do in the event of a media disaster. (on a 5, it would have been a straight bonus)(If you roll a one for the media storm, it will automatically become a five) You may have overdone it, but then you move on.
"Agent. You know your job." The Agents nod, taking 5 Grunts with them, and leave.
(5) A day later, they return, carrying a completely disassembled playground, up to and including some benches that were nearby. "Sir. We managed to acquire some hazard protection gear which we wore for the duration of the mission." (gained disassembled SCP-1)(gained toxic waste gear, fits 2 Agents and 5 Grunts) ((By the way, if you got a 1, the quotation marks from "in costume" would have been removed and your minions would have acted accordingly.))
(3) Your Researchers and remaining Grunts begin to- brainstorm? Ugh. But at least something's coming of it. (Blueprint precursors, +1 to designing a building of your choice)
And with that, you notice the sound of a van, and another- and another- and so many more. And the pattering of footsteps. "Sir! We've got- AGH!" A reporter slammed(hopefully accidentally) into that Grunt. And with that, a horde of reporters and cameramen have entered your bunker. It's awfully crowded.
((I'm going to note that the bunker helps them to believe that you are a government contractor, but doesn't actually help you diffuse the storm.))
(Initial Impressions(5+1=6)) The reporters and cameramen tour the bunker, guided by your Agents. And they don't come back for a while. Eventually they return to the central chamber- carrying scraps of cloth. Scraps of cloth that look like- there goes your office's decor. Gragh. But at least they probably believe you're a government contractor.
(Suppress the News(2)) ((I think I saw this one coming.)) And with that, suddenly they're talking to you. And you can barely make out what they're saying. It's just so much. (resist: 3) You buckle somewhat under the media pressure, trembling a bit. Eventually they depart, and you find yourself lying in a hammock set up in your office. You just feel so tired... but you need to know how you did. You call over a Grunt. "How long was I out, and how did we do?" "You were out for several hours, sir. And we did... insufficiently." The Grunt is knocked aside by an Agent. "Sorry sir. The Grunt doesn't have the words to describe how well we did. We did badly but not disastrously. There's going to be a news story, published all over the U.S.- but likely not internationally. And there won't be any anomalous aspects to the story, the media didn't catch a glimpse of any sort of our true mission." "Good- but bad. Ohh..." You collapse back into your hammock and sleep.
((End result: all other players in America will get this story in their spoilers. But those out of America won't. And the story itself doesn't have any reporting of anomalies.))
