My latest fortress, I knew I'd be short on stone for a while (aquifer), so I shipped out with almost no food, and 224 stone.  160 of that was orthoclase.  Which I turned into blocks, for my defensive walls.  My city looks very pretty in gold.

I also have a couple fortifications near the gate, out of cobaltite, just for variety.  And the bridge across the moat is quartzite.
