Slacker I do, in fact, understand that most weapons don't make sense but happen anyway, but this isn't one of those times.
This was surprisingly unhelpful.

I have said, a few times, that even though conceivably a blunderbuss sword could work in the setting, it doesn't feel right to me and I'd prefer a different type of gun instead.

Then list out a few types of guns you might be interested in and we'll see if something can be worked out.
I mean, sharp pointy things are more my area of expertise, guns are mostly Stirk's thing, but hey. I'm sure something can be figured out.

Sniper rifle could work, but I also like the idea of the blade separating in the middle, like two sheets of metal on top of each other, and folding into a crossbow-ish shape. Not an actual crossbow, but the whole shape, you know?
I'm also kinda liking the idea of hitting a button to fire Dust blasts like sword beams.

Hm. So more of a classic musket shape? Should fit what you want, and the pieces could be a bayonet if you're willing to sacrifice the crossbow-shape.
