Let's steal whatever the Monarchy did.

A minor note about the theft of technology, you need to specify a specific technology, or go after the design or revision that was made if going after the newest tech.  The same would apply to any other actions (ex. sabotage).

Hypothetically, if another team designed something then spent their revision fixing it like we did, and we stole their revision, would that result in us getting the revised version of whatever they've made, or would we get the technology they did from the revision but not be able to build a complete piece?

Instead of theft or defense, what about just working to build up a stronger espionage system in the monarchy so later actions will be more successful.  After all what they made this turn is probably not so great compared to what we can steal later, and we can know WHAT we are stealing.

If we can do this, I'll vote for this. If we're going to get a buff, early on is the best time for it. Otherwise, I think some industrial sabotage is in order. We should target the monarchists' artillery foundries. Cannon are already expensive for them, if this works they'll hardly be able to field any at all.

I am not a fan of sabotage either. It is a short term measure that works for one turn and benefits not only us. In fact I think it is even worse than counterespionage

Our priorities are
1) get long term benefits
2) deny enemies long term benefits
3) get short term benefits

I repeat

Inflitrate shipyards of loyalists. Try to steal whatever new naval design\revision they created. Ideally by capturing a ship and movint it in our port. If they designed\built no new boats then just inflitrate their shipyard to make future attempts easier

We need naval designs. We definitely need naval designs. Getting them without spending design actions is good.

In fact I think simplier action is good

Inflitrate shipyards of loyalists to get bonus to actions later

Loyalists will go naval route, it is obvious. We will benefit from ability to steal designs and\or sabotage production

I'm currently seeing three different actions being voted for.  Which is the one you are wanting to use?  Should note that I'm not going to be using bonuses.  Keeping track of all of those over the long term, without revealing them, would be a nightmare.

Okay, in the interest of moving things along, how about we just steal the Loyalist design. We've focused on our army so far this turn, so using this turn to raise some defense against our other rival makes sense.

Zanz, is success guaranteed on these? And if another team designed something then spent their revision fixing it like we did, and we stole their revision, would that result in us getting the revised version of whatever they've made, or would we get the technology they did from the revision but not be able to build a complete piece?

Odds of success are 50%, unless a counterespionage is used.  Then your spy has a 1 in 6 chance of success, 2 in 6 of dying and depriving you of a spy on the next turn, 2 in 6 chance of discovery but manage to escape, and 1 in 6 of failure without discovery.  If two people go after the same nation, then there is a independent 1 in 6 chance of being seen by the other nation's spy.
If you target the revision, you would not need to steal the design to produce it.

Espionage set to stealing the Loyalist Design.  Yeah, its not a clear one, but I'm hoping if this is fast enough we can get the turn out tomorrow. Results will be provided at the start of the next turn.

Begin Focus Phase

Available Targets for an Offensive Strike:
Ft. Combe (Indepenent)
Ft. Alton (Independent)
Port Silver (Atterton Monarchy)
Newtown (Atterton Monarchy)
Sea (Pirates)
Sea (Atterton Monarchy)
Sea (British Loyalists)

HM, with 50% chance of success we will have rather similar set of designs rather soon

As for counter-espionage...
chance of getting a rather good result is 33%, chance of badly failing is 16.6%, chance for cancelling each others action is 50% and that if there are steal attempt

Oh, and with voting for spying being done openly, counter-espionage becomes huge metagaming attraction... I would prefer game without it.

Offensive Strike against Port Silver.

+1 as well, but what about the second action? Attacking independent forts will be good for our positioning on land, and we don't want the loyalists to have complete control over the surrounding waters either, but if we focus on Atterton early we may be able to break through somewhere.
